SECURITY FORCE EAST BIDS FAREWELL TO RETIRING DIG BATTICALOA

Dedicated service of the retiring Deputy Inspector General of Police Batticaloa, Mr. Wimal Jagodaarachchi who has taken an untiring effort to uplift the Police Military relationship in the Eastern Province was appreciated with an elegant farewell party at the Headquarters of 231 Brigade Kalladi. Mr. Jagodaarachchi, with an illustrious career spanning 36 years in the Police Department is retiring from his service with effect from 21 June 2018.

NATIONAL YOUTH JUNIOR AND SENIOR NOVICES WEIGHTLIFTING CHAMPIONSHIP – 2018

The National Youth Junior and Senior Novices Weightlifting Championship 2018, organized by the Polonnaruwa District Weightlifting Association in partnership with Welikanda Divisional Secretariat, and SFHQ (East) was declared open by the Chief Guest, the Commander Security Force (East) Major General Santhusitha Pananwala, with the invitation of Divisional Secretary Welikanda, Mr. Harsha Bandara. The Championship was held at the gymnasium of Security Force Headquarters (East), Welikanda, on 19-20 May.

ARMY EASTERN GAMES – 2018 CONCLUDES SUCCESSFULLY

The three day long Army Eastern Games - 2018, one of the most distinctive events in sports calendar of the Security Force Headquarters (East), concluded with glamour at Security Force Headquarters (East) grounds, Welikanda on 05 May. The event was organized with an eye of providing a platform for young Army athletes to showcase their skills and engage in competition to promote sportsmanship. The Closing Ceremony was graced by Commander Security Force (East), Major General Santhusitha Pananwala as the Chief Guest.

INDIGENOUS PEOPLE OF SRI LANKA CELEBRATE AVURUDU IN HENANIGALA

'Wana Aranaka Avurudu Udanaya' the Kona Mangalya of the Sri Lankan aborigines (Vedda Community) was held throughout Wednesday (11) in Henanigala, where a plenty of eminent personnel and ‘Adhi Vasies’ got together giving prominence to the age old traditions of the indigenous people of Sri Lanka. The event was organized by the 231 Bde of 23 Div with the assistance of Media First Network, with co-sponsorship of Sunday Apple Newspaper and Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation.
