TROOPS OF 24 DIVISION RUSHED TO FLOOD RELIEF

On request of Director of Irrigation, troops of 23 Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment under 24 Division rushed to prevent spilling of “Lahugala Maha Wewa” whilst blocking its major water source of the branch of Hada Oya on Thursday (8). Meanwhile, the troops of 3 Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment, DMC – Amp and Navy have assisted nearly 62 effected families at the close perimeter of inundated road where commonly known as Kiddangi Coast-way which is located in between Kalmunei and Chawalakadei road by providing tractors and boats during last few days.

SF (EAST) TROOPS COME FORWARD TO ASSIST THE VICTIMS OF HEAVY RAINFALL

Under the guidance of the Commander Security Force (East) Major General Santhusitha Pananwala, with the direction and close supervision by the General Officer Commanding 23 Division Brigadier Kapila Udalupola and with the instruction and involvement of the Commander 233 Brigade Colonel Anil Samarasinghe and Commander 232 Brigade Colonel Roshan Jayamanna, troops assisted the people displaced due to heavy rain in the Eastern Province.

NEW GYMNASIUM OPENED IN SECURITY FORCE HEADQUARTERS (EAST)

With the view to enhance the physical fitness efficiency of the soldiers of the Security Force Headquarters (East), a new gymnasium has been constructed at the Security Force Headquarters (East) with the guidance of Commander Security Force (East), Major General Santhusitha Pananwala. Further, as a gesture of goodwill, SFHQ (East) is also intended to facilitate the young school children of the area who have excelled in sports and reached national and international levels in weight lifting.

SERIES OF RELIGIOUS PROGRAMMES TO MARK 15TH ANNIVERSARY OF SFHQ (EAST)

Security Force Headquarters (East) proudly commemorated its 15th anniversary with a series of religious events to invoke blessings on all those who laid down their lives for the Motherland, wounded in action, all those serving in the Security Forces (East) and the veterans of the Security Forces (East). These programes were organized under the auspices of the Commander Security Forces (East) Major General Santhusitha Pananwala.

SFHQ (EAST) WOMEN SOLDIERS MEET CHILDREN & ELDERS OF PARAKUM CHILDREN'S AND ELDERS' HOME AT POLONNARUWA

In line with the 15 anniversary of the Security Force Headquarters (East), the children and elders of Pulathisipura Parakum Children’s and Elders’ Home - Polonnaruwa had a memorable interaction with the women soldiers of 5 (V) Sri Lanka Army Women's Corps for the second time and a representative gathering of the Security Force Headquarters - East on Tuesday (23). Initially, a Mental Health Assessment was conducted for the children by the Psychologist of Army Base Hospital Minneriya, Lieutenant DDRT Karunasena in order to assess their mental health individually. It was followed by a counseling & psychotherapy session for the children with the guidance of the guardian of Parakum Children’s and Elders’ Home, Ven. Kaduruwela Dhammapala Thero. This gesture of goodwill was an initiative of the Commander Security Forces (East) Major General Santhusitha Pananwala.

SFHQ (EAST) FACILITATES ANOTHER RELIGIOUS PROJECT

With the view to foster inter-ethnic and inter-religious coexistence and to generate a spirit of tolerance and understanding amongst different religious groups in the Eastern Province, Security Force Headquarters (East) has been facilitating for series of projects with the guidance of Commander Security Force (East), Major General Santhusitha Pananwala. Accordingly, the contribution of troops for the refurbishment of Mamanga Pillayar Kovil Batticaloa, renovation of the Theological Institute of Bishop's House Batticaloa, ongoing construction of Dhamma School building of Sri Paththanaramaya Batticaloa and various religious places in the area could be highlighted.
