THE TROOPS OF SECURITY FORCE HEADQUARTERS (EAST) PLEDGE TO PRESERVE THE 'THRIPITAKA'

The staff of Security Force Headquarters (East) pledged to be dedicated upon the preservation of the 'Thripitaka', in order to prevent any attempt to damage or distort the Pali Buddhist Canon which consists of the discourses of the Buddha, during the 'Pledging Ceremony' held at Headquarters premises, Welikanda today. In line with the 'Tripitakabhivandana' week, declared by the Government of Sri Lanka from 16 to 23 March, a number of events have been organized by the Security Force Headquarters (East) giving prominence to religious observances.

SECURITY FORCES (EAST) JOINS WITH ‘TRIPITAKABHIVANDANA’ WEEK

Security Forces (East) lines up with the state institutions of the area to organize various religious programmes during the ‘Tripitakabhivandana’ week that has been declared from March 16 to March 23, to mark the declaration of Theravada Tripitaka, the sacred scripture of Buddhists, as a World Heritage. The Presidential Secretariat, Ministry of Buddha Sasana, Ministry of Housing, Construction and Cultural Affairs in collaboration with other Ministries, State Institutions and Security Forces have organized many religious programmes to mark the ‘Tripitakabhivandana’ week island wide.

ILLUMINATION SYSTEM OF THE NEWLY CONSTRUCTED STUPA AT WELIKANDA BUDDHIST CENTRE WAS DECLARED OPEN

As directed by the Chief Incumbent of Buddhist Centre Welikanda Ven. Delwita Meththalankara Thero, Illumination System for the newly constructed Stupa at Welikanda Buddhist Centre was declared open on Sunday (10). This project was conducted in line with the series of projects carried out by the Security Force (East) to foster religious coexistence in the Eastern Province and the Commander Security Force (East) Major General K P A Jayasekera WWV RSP USP ndc psc along with Mr. Duminda Jayaweera switched on the illumination system amidst reverberating 'Pirith' chanting of Maha Sangha.

COMMANDER SECURITY FORCE (EAST) MEETS TAMIL COMMUNITY DURING FIELD VISITS TO 10 GR AND 11 SLSR BATTALIONS

The Commander Security Force (East), Major General K P A Jayasekera WWV RSP USP ndc psc, made field visits to 11 (V) Sri Lanka Singha Regiment and 10 Gajaba Regiment on Thursday, 28 February 2019 in order to be familiar with respective duties, roles and tasks of under command establishments.

RETIRED WOMEN SOLDIERS GETS BEE COLONY BOXES

Intending to uplift the economic standards of the retired/ to be retired women soldiers of 5(V) Sri Lanka Army Women’s Corps and their families through agro-based self-employment ventures, an initiative was launched by Retired Service Personnel Welfare Project – Agriculture of Ministry of Defence in partnership with Security Force Headquarters (East) on Monday (25) to provide with bee colony boxes.
