As gesture of reconciliation and understanding among different faiths of the Eastern Province, a special “Iftar” program was organized by 23 Battalion of Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment on Wednesday 29 May at Grand Jummah Mosque Pothuvil on account of forthcoming Ramadan festival. Major General Mahinda Mudalige General Officer Commanding 24 Division participated in the ceremony as the Chief Guest. The Event was organized with the guidance of the Chief Maulavi of Pothuvil Grand Jummah Mosque and with the directions and supervision of Brigadier Damitha Ranasinghe, the Commander 242 Brigade.

The Commander, Security Forces - East, Major General Aruna Jayasekera laid the foundation stone for construction of the proposed Stupa at the Temple premises of the Security Force Headquarters (East) Welikanda, amidst chanting of ‘Seth Pirith’ by members of the Maha Sangha on Thursday (30).

Headquarters 233 Brigade initiated a social welfare project in partnership with ‘Gauthama Daruwo Aryan Foundation’ on 26 May 2019 at MOH office, Welikanda. 115 mothers of low income families of Welikanda area were donated with packs containing nutritious foods and baby accessories each worth nearly Rs. 2500.00 along with a lunch packet. General Officer Commanding 23 Division Major General Kapila Udalupola, Commander 233 Brigade Colonel Rajith Elvitigala, Officers, Medical Officer Welikanda Dr. Maheer and members Aryan Foundation participated in the event.

Army troops and Police have recovered a 9mm pistol, 2.5mm Micro pistol, 20 rounds of pistol ammo, 200 detonators, 171 rounds of T56 ammo, a T56 magazine, 169 gelignite sticks and several explosive items during a search operation conducted in Samanthurai area early this morning (01 May 2019).

The event was held under the patronage of Major General LM Mudalige RWP RSP ndu, General Officer Commanding 24 Division to bless the troops who involved in Sahindamarudu search operation on 26 April 2019 and in memory of the victims of Easter Sunday attacks and victims in Sahindamarudu area.

Major General K P A Jayasekera WWV RSP USP ndc psc, Commander Security Forces - East had a meeting with Rear Admiral D N S C Kalubowila RWP RSP USP psn, Commander, Southeastern Naval Area, today at Southeastern Naval Base, Panama and discussed matters related to maintenance of law and order in the Eastern Province under the prevailing security situation in the country.

23 Infantry Division organized a New Year festival which brought Sinhala, Tamil and Muslim communities together symbolizing cultural unity, at the Wandarammulla Central Collage grounds -Batticaloa throughout Saturday (20) under the guidance of Major General Kapila Udalupola General Officer Commanding 23 Infantry Division.

The newly constructed accommodation building for Army troops deployed for the security of the ancient Somawathiya Temple in Polonnaruwa was declared open by Hon. Sidney Jayarathne, M.P. Polonnaruwa District and Major General K P A Jayasekera WWV RSP USP psc the Commander Security Forces (East) on Thursday (25).

The troops of Security Force Headquarters (East) joined hands with the island wide tree planting campaign that has been added to this year's New Year customs, at the auspicious time 1117 hr today. With a concept of President Maithripala Sirisena, this national programe was conducted to fulfill the vested responsibility for the sake of the future generation and sustenance of environment.

Troops of Security Forces (East) actively involved in the second national programme of ‘Rata Wenuwen Ekata Sitimu’(Stand Together for the Country) implemented by the Presidential Task Force in Batticaloa District. The five day programme had its ceremonial conclusion under the patronage of President Maithripala Sirisena on April 12th at Weber Stadium Batticaloa.
