MAJOR GENERAL ARUNA JAYASEKERA BIDS FAREWELL TO SECURITY FORCES (EAST)

The Commander Security Forces (East), Major General K P A Jayasekera WWV RSP VSV USP ndc psc with an illustrious military career spanning over 34 years, relinquished the office of the Security Force Headquarters (East) on 14 October 2019, and will be retiring from the Sri Lanka Army on 18 October 2019. The series of formalities held at Headquarters on 14 October 2018 in connection with the relinquishment of the appointment commenced with reviewing of the Guard Turnout accorded to the outgoing Security Force Commander on arrival to the venue. The Chief Guest inspected the Guard of Honour accorded to him by troops of 4th Battalion, the Gemunu Watch in keeping with military traditions.

BOOK DONATION FOR PRE-SCHOOL CHILDREN

Security Force Headquarters (East) coordinated a donation for the children of Welikanda Pre-school under the auspices of Major General Aruna Jayasekera, the Commander Security Forces (East) and his family members on Saturday (05) at the Buddhist Centre Welikanda. During the programme, books were distributed among 32 pre-school children in view of invoking blessings for the late father of Major General Aruna Jayasekera.

UNVEILING OF PINNACLE OF STUPA AT SF HQ (EAST) WELIKANDA

Unveiling of pinnacle of the newly constructed Stupa at the Security Force Headquarters (East), Welikanda was held under the patronage of Major General Aruna Jayasekera, the Commander Security Forces (East) on Thursday, 05th of September. The Stupa was constructed on the admonition of the Commander Security Force - (East) and under the guidance of the Chief Incumbent Rangiri Ulpotha Temple Trincomalee, Ven. Ahungalle Sirivisuddhi Thero, Chief Incumbent Buddhist Centre Welikanda, Ven. Delwita Mettalankara Thero and the Chief Incumbent Sri Sudarshanaramaya Temple Maithreegama, Ven. Anuradapura Dhammathilaka Thero, in appreciation of the noble service rendered by the brave soldiers of the Security Forces - (East) to defeat terrorism and bring lasting peace to the country.

SPECIAL TASK FORCE CONDUCTED ITS 35TH WAR HEROES' COMMEMORATIONWITH COMMANDER SF (EAST) AS CHIEF GUEST

Special Task Force, which actively partook in the triumph of eradicating the 30-year long LTTE terrorism ten years ago, and is now fully committed to maintenance of law and order in the country, conducted its 35 War Heroes’ Commemoration Ceremony on 01 September 2019.

24 DIVISION ORGANIZED AN EVENT OF ALMS GIVING AND GRANTING DONATION TO ELDERS

24 Division organized a Poya Day programme at 'Sarana' Elders Home at Ampara with the direction of General Officer Commanding 24 Division, Brigadier AI Marasinghe RWP RSP and donated 7 Wheelchairs, 11 Crutches, a Dialog Satellite TV, 60 Bed Sheets and Pillow Cases. This was arranged as per the request of Chief Matron, 'Sarana' Elders Home - Ampara.

SECURITY FORCES (EAST) INTER DIVISION KABBADI TOURNAMENT - 2019

The finals of the Inter Division Kabbadi Tournament - 2019 of Security Forces (East) was held at Polonnaruwa Sports Complex on Saturday (10) with the presence of Major General Aruna Jayasekara, Commander Security Forces (East) as the Chief Guest. The tournament was held between 20 July to 05 August that included10 matches with 05 teams competing for supremacy.
