With the guidance of General Officer Commanding 24 Division Major General Chinthaka Gamage, a donation of sports items and study materials sewing among underprivileged school children was taken place at Kumarigama Vidyalaya Uhana, on 23 January 2020.
The General Officer Commanding of 23 Division Maj Gen Dammika Jayasundera, the Commander 233 Brigade Col Rajitha Elvitigala and the Staff of 23 Division and 233 Brigade conducted a Bodhi Pooja at Dimbulagala Temple on 14 January 2020 to invoke blessings for people affected by the bush fires of Australia and who had oppressed from calamities all around the world.
In accordance with the directions and guidance of the General Officer Commanding 23 Division Major General Dhammika Jayasundera, the Headquarters, 231 Brigade in coordination with the Commercial Bank donated kitchen equipment and bedding items for 70 needy families in Batticaloa, Kaththankudi, Valachchanai, Siththandi and Nawakkadu areas.
A contingent of more than 200 Army personnel, government officials, businessmen and members of the public joined hands together and cleaned Welikanda township area on Friday (03) during a self-help community ‘Shramadana’ programme.
With the directions of the General Officer Commanding 24 Division, Dengue Eradication Campaign was conducted by the troops to minimize the increased risk of dengue and to eradicate the dengue epidemic from Ampara, Malwaththa area.

Troops under the Security Forces - East, are continuing their relief operations with commitment for the benefit of flood victims as heavy rains continued in the area these days. Under the supervision of SF HQ (E) & 24 Division, 16 Sri Lanka National Guard Battalion in cooperation with Divisional Secretariat Mahaoya, Irrigation Department and civilians re-constructed the eroded bund of Mahasiyambalakandiya Tank in general area Mahaoya using sand bags to prevent destruction of the bunt.
