Under the supervision of SF HQ (E) & 24 Division, 16 Sri Lanka National Guard Battalion in cooperation with Divisional Secretariat Mahaoya, Irrigation Department and civilians re-constructed the eroded bund of Mahasiyambalakandiya Tank in general area Mahaoya using sand bags to prevent destruction of the bunt.
As torrential rains continued, the whole region was threatened with a devastating flood unless the tank bunt was fortified. The whole operation was brought to completion on late evening on 19 December 2019.
