In line with the multifarious educative and awareness programmes conducted for the benefit of all ranks of Security Force (East), an initiative was launched with a concept of Major General Aruna Jayasekera Commander Security Force (East) intending to uplift the living standards of the soldiers of Security Forces (East) through agro-based self-employment ventures.
22 Division organized a Blood Donation Campaign at the 22 Division Headquarters in Trincomalee on 23 (Sunday) marking the two month remembrance of 4/21 Easter attacks.
Major General Aruna Jayasekera Commander Security Forces (East) visited the Poson Zone of Jayasumanaramaya Trincomalee on 18 June and attended a special \Ashirwada Gilanpasa Pooja amidst the reverberating rhythmic traditional drum beats (Hevisi and Magul Bera) around the Dathu Mandiraya.
Commander Security Forces (East) opened the mega rice 'Dansela' organized by the Army near Parakrama Samudra under the leadership of HE the President. The Commander served the first meal portion to the sight-seers and opened the eatery together with distinguished guests.
The troops of 22 Division organized a Poson Zone at Jayasumanarama Maha Viharaya in partnership with Dayaka Sabha of the temple to commemorate the arrival of Mahinda Thero and the introduction of Buddha´s teaching to Sri Lanka on the Poson Poya Day. The poson zone consisted with devotional songs (Bakthi Gee) free eateries (Dansel) special religious programmes etc. The Poson zone will continue till 20 June.
The troops of 24 Division organized a series of programmes on account of Poson Full Moon Poya Day on Sunday 16 for the 6th consecutive year with the support of 241 Brigade, 242 Brigade and under command Battalions.
The Commander, Security Forces - East, Major General Aruna Jayasekera laid the foundation stone at the auspicious time for construction of the proposed (Vihara Geya) Shrine Room at the Temple premises of the Security Force Headquarters (East) Welikanda, amidst chanting of ‘Seth Pirith’ by members of the Maha Sangha on Thursday (30).
One more awareness programme on 'Personal Development' was conducted by the Directorate of Preventive Medicine & Mental Health Service at Security Force Headquarters (East) Welikanda on Thursday (13) in line with their multifarious educative and awareness programmes conducted for the benefit of All Ranks in the Army.
The ‘Araliya Mal Poojawa’ (offering of one million Temple flowers) was held at the Unagala Vehera Raja Maha Viharaya premises on July 08 with the participation of large gathering of devotees from all over the country.
