Unveiling of pinnacle of the newly constructed Stupa at the Security Force Headquarters (East), Welikanda was held under the patronage of Major General Aruna Jayasekera, the Commander Security Forces (East) on Thursday, 05th of September. The Stupa was constructed on the admonition of the Commander Security Force - (East) and under the guidance of the Chief Incumbent Rangiri Ulpotha Temple Trincomalee, Ven. Ahungalle Sirivisuddhi Thero, Chief Incumbent Buddhist Centre Welikanda, Ven. Delwita Mettalankara Thero and the Chief Incumbent Sri Sudarshanaramaya Temple Maithreegama, Ven. Anuradapura Dhammathilaka Thero, in appreciation of the noble service rendered by the brave soldiers of the Security Forces - (East) to defeat terrorism and bring lasting peace to the country.

The religious ceremony was held, dignified by the presence of Maha Sangha, Officers & Other Ranks. The construction of this ‘Stupa’ was completed with the auspices of Officers & Other Ranks of Security Force Headquarters (East) and with the unstinting efforts of the troops of Engineer Service Regiment. The foundation stone of this Stupa was laid on 30 May 2019 and enshrining Sacred Relics in the Stupa was held on 01 August 2019.

Under the guidance of members of the Maha Sangha, the Commander Security Force (East) Major General Aruna Jayasekera unveiled the gold plated pinnacle of the Stupa at the auspicious minute amidst reverberating 'Pirith' chanting of Maha Sangha.

Coincide with this ceremony, the sacred Buddha Stupa was also kept at the newly constructed Shrine at the temple premises amidst the blessings of Maha Sangha. Meanwhile, fulfilling a long-felt requirement at the Security Force Headquarters (East), the Commander Security Forces (East) declared open the new accommodation block of the Women's Corps soldiers and the B Guard Room of SF HQ (East).
