TROOPS OF SECURITY FORCES (EAST) ACTIVELY INVOLVED IN 'RATA WENUWEN EKATA SITIMU' PROGRAMME

Troops of Security Forces (East) actively involved in the second national programme of ‘Rata Wenuwen Ekata Sitimu’(Stand Together for the Country) implemented by the Presidential Task Force in Batticaloa District. The five day programme had its ceremonial conclusion under the patronage of President Maithripala Sirisena on April 12th at Weber Stadium Batticaloa.

Under this programme, the troops of Security Forces (East) contributed for several projects implemented in Batticaloa district as instructed by Major General Aruna Jayasekera, Commander Security Forces (East) with a view to uplift the living standards of the people in the area.

Accordingly, the troops of 4th Battalion, the Gemunu Watch and 11 (Volunteer) Battalion, Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment of 231 Brigade engaged in cleaning Nedunkulam and Vettikulam tanks enabling a number of farming families to irrigate a wide patch of paddy-fields in the area.

Meanwhile, 231 Brigade constructed 25 stalls and vested with the under privileged families of Sathurukondan area to uplift their livelihood. Further, 5500 lunch packets were distributed among the people attended the closing ceremony.

These projects were carried out under the guidance of Major General Kapila Udalupola General Officer Commanding 23 Division.
