A 20 years old youngster who is a resident of Kallady, Batticaloa, Mr. Thawendiran Madushigan swam from Dhanushkody in India to Taleimannar in Sri Lanka on 28 May 2023, and he put a record as the 4th person to reach this position. It took 12 hours and 58 minutes to swim that distance to him. Hence the felicitation ceremony was organized in the 231 Infantry Brigade to felicitate him.
The event was organized under the supervision of Brigadier Dilupa Bandara, Brigade Commander, 231 Infantry Brigade on 04 July 2023. For this felicitation ceremony Government Agent & District Secretary– Batticaloa, SSP – Batticaloa Division, Zonal Director of Education – Batticaloa, Principal of St Michael College – Batticaloa, Batticaloa District Commissioner of Sri Lanka Scout Association and Mr. T.Madushigan with his parents were attended.
On this occasion, a plaque was presented by Brigade Commander to felicitate his performances, and also MJF Lions Club – Batticaloa presented a cash price.
