Troops of the 22 Infantry Division of the SFHQ - East with the intention of promoting civil-military cooperation in Trincomalee District staged a Sinhala and Tamil New Year festival on 9 April at Trincomalee Fort Fredrick ground.
The Officers’ Training Day for the First Quarter of the Year 2023 was held under the direction and guidance of the General Officer Commanding of the 24 Infantry Division, Major General Wipula Chandrasiri on 08 April 2023 at the Conference Hall of the 241 Infantry Brigade, Akkaraipattu.
Under the guidance of comd 231 infantry brigade Brigadier Dilupa Bandara, Mr. Thanoj Biyagama – the organizer of ‘‘Api Manussayo ’’foundation and Mr. Nadeera Kahapitiya with the contribution of 11(V) SLSR troops, refurbished the office of Public Health Midwife (PHM) Keviliyamadu and handed over to PHM on 10.45 Hrs 07 April 2023.
With the blessing of Major General Sujeewa Hettiarachchi, the Commander, Security Forces - East and guidance of the General Officer Commanding, 24 Infantry Division Major General Wipula Chandrasiri, and supervision of Brigadier Dhanika Pathirathna, Brigade Commander, 241 Infantry Brigade, 11 Sri Lanka National Guard coordinated and organized distributing essential dry ration packs and school stationery donation programme for low-income Sinhala families around Akkareipattu area, at Akkareipattu Wijerama temple on Wednesday (April 05).
After assuming his new office, the 25th Brigade Commander Signal Brigade Colonel HDJP Weerathunga made his first official visit to 2 (Volunteer) Regiment Sri Lanka Signal Corps (SLSC) on Tuesday (April 04). He was warmly welcomed by the Commanding Officer 2 (V) SLSC and accorded a guard turnout at the entrance as a formal military tradition. Further, in order to mark his inaugural visit as the Brigade Commander Signal Brigade. He planted a mango sapling at the camp premises before he posed for a photograph with all officers and appointment holders in the 2 (V) SLSC. According to the concept of Colonel Prabath Rangajeewa, the Brigade Commander, of the 223 Infantry Brigade, constructed the guard turnout pitch at the entrance of the 223 Infantry Brigade and also, constructed a facility complex consisting of a saloon and cobbler shop for the welfare of all ranks.
With the blessing of Major General Sujeewa Hettiarachchi, the Commander, Security Forces - East, and supervision of Major General Wipula Chandrasiri, General Officer Commanding, 24 Infantry Division, and under the direction of Brigadier Anuradha Solangaarachchi, Brigade Commander, 242 Infantry Brigade, with the patronage of Lions Club, 306 B 2, Weliweriya, renovated library building of Pottuvil Sinhala Vidyalaya by the under command troops of 242 Infantry Brigade was handed over for students on Monday (March 27).
With the blessing of Major General Sujeewa Hettiarachch, the Commander, Security Forces - East and guidance of the General Officer Commanding, 22 Infantry Division Major General Saliya Amunugama, and supervision of Brigadier Saliya Dias, Brigade Commander, 222 Infantry Brigade, 7 Military Intelligence Corps coordinated and organized distributing essential dry ration programme for low-income families around Serunuwara, Thopur and Kiliweddi area at Serunuwara Divisional Secretariat on Saturday (March 25).
A series of programme were organized from 12 to 17 March 2023 to celebrate the 13th anniversary of the 221 Infantry Brigade. Anniversary celebrations were held giving prominence to religious functions and celebration activities with the guidance of Brigadier Sujeewa Rathnayake the Brigade Commander of the 221 Infantry Brigade.
According to the concept of Brigadier Dilupa Bandara, the Brigade Commander, 231 Infantry Brigade, the 231 Brigade Facility Complex started to construct by troops of the Brigade Headquarter. Final result of the concept of the Brigade Commander, the 231 Infantry Brigade troops obtained the much-needed modern Facility Complex consisting of a welfare canteen, news reading centre and saloon.
