THE TROOPS OF 24 INFANTRY DIVISION CELEBRATES THE VESAK FESTIVAL – 2023 IN A GRAND MANNER

After a lapse of three years, the All Ranks of 24 Infantry Division including the troops of under command Brigades and the Battalions, celebrated the Vesak Festival 2023 symbolizing religious prosperity, in a grand manner at the 24 Infantry Division area. The arrangements were made under the guidance and direction of the General Officer Commanding the 24 Infantry Division Maj Gen W Chandarasiri RSP USP.

DONATION OF DRY RATION PACKS TO LOW-INCOME FAMILIES BY 22 INFANTRY DIV IN TRINCOMALEE DISTRICT

Under the guidance of GOC 22 Infantry Division Maj Gen SB Amunugama RWP RSP ndu, 221 Infantry Brigade organized a dry ration distribution programmeat Kumburupiddi, in Trincomalee district to mark this year’s Vesak season. The event was held on 05 May 2023 at Kumburupiddi Vidyaloka Viharaya and selected 50 low-income families living in the area benefitted from this meritorious deed and they received a dry ration pack worth Rs 6000.00 each,sponsored by a foreign expat.The total cost of the project was Rs. 300,000/= and many needy families representing Sinhala, Tamil and Muslim communities were selected with the consultation of the Kuchchaveli DS division and the head priest of the temple.

222 INFANTRY BRIGADE ORGANIZE A HEALTH CARE CAMP AND ARTIFICIAL LIMBS DONATION PROGRAMME

With the blessing of Major General Sujeewa Hettiarachchi, the Commander, Security Forces - East, on the concept of the Major General Saliya Amunugama, General Officer Commanding, 22 Infantry Division, and under the guidelines and supervision of Brigadier Saliya Dias, Brigade Commander, 222 Infantry Brigade, with the help of Lieutenant Colonel Priyantha Wekadapola and Major Rosan Arawwala, Commanding Officers of 5 (V) Sri Lanka Artillery and 24 Battalion Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment organized a mobile health care camp and health equipment donation programme for low-income families on Saturday (29 April).

231 BRIGADE CELEBRATES THE NEW YEAR FESTIVAL WITH THE BATTICALOA PEOPLE

The Weber ground in Batticaloa held a New Year festival programme on Sunday (30 April) on account of the Sinhala and Tamil New Year. The 231 Infantry Brigade troops, together with the District Secretary office - Batticaloa and Sri Lanka Police - Batticaloa organized this festival in Batticaloa town. The New Year festival was organized with the aim of, civil-military cooperation and mutual relations in a multi-cultural, religious, multi-ethnic.
