After a lapse of three years, the All Ranks of 24 Infantry Division including the troops of under command Brigades and the Battalions, celebrated the Vesak Festival 2023 symbolizing religious prosperity, in a grand manner at the 24 Infantry Division area. The arrangements were made under the guidance and direction of the General Officer Commanding the 24 Infantry Division Maj Gen W Chandarasiri RSP USP.
Troops of 24 Infantry Division headquarters presented an impressive rotating Vesak Lantan at Malwatta Junction, Ampara generating devoted hearts in all nationals living in the area. Simultaneously, the Vesak Dansala organized by all ranks of the 24 Infantry Division offered a delicious traditional drink, coriander with jaggery, to devotees, adding more value to the Vesak Festival.
To coincide with the same, the troops of 241 Infantry Brigade, organized a Sago Dansal in front of the Brigade Headquarters at Akkaraipattu with the blessings of the Brigade Commander. Further, 11 SLNG troops had organized a Bhodhi Pooja at Neeththa Seelathalarama Temple, and B Coy had organized a coriander dansal at Eragama. The troops of A and C Coys of the same battalion displayed colorful Vesak lanterns at Akkaraipattu Temple. The troops of the 16 SLNG battalion had organized a Bodhi Pooja and a coriander dansal for the people of the Annamali area. Moreover, the troops of the 18 VIR battalion had organized a rice dansal at Karathiv for the people in the area and displayed an impressive rotating Vesak lantern at Kalmunai town, adding value to the festival.
Celebrating the Vesak Festival in the 242 Inf Bde area, the Brigade Headquarters along with under command battalions displayed colorful Vesak lanterns at each HQ and organized three dansals at Brigade Headquarters, 23 SLSR and 8 SLNG battalion headquarters, respectively, as a gesture of goodwill. The devotees were impressed by the programs organized at all the locations symbolizing the Vesak Festival in 2023.
