Under the guidance of GOC 22 Infantry Division Maj Gen SB Amunugama RWP RSP ndu, 221 Infantry Brigade organized a dry ration distribution programmeat Kumburupiddi, in Trincomalee district to mark this year’s Vesak season. The event was held on 05 May 2023 at Kumburupiddi Vidyaloka Viharaya and selected 50 low-income families living in the area benefitted from this meritorious deed and they received a dry ration pack worth Rs 6000.00 each,sponsored by a foreign expat.The total cost of the project was Rs. 300,000/= and many needy families representing Sinhala, Tamil and Muslim communities were selected with the consultation of the Kuchchaveli DS division and the head priest of the temple.

The 231 Infantry Brigade troops, together with the District Secretary office - Batticaloa and Sri Lanka Police - Batticaloa organized this festival in Batticaloa town. The New Year festival was organized with the aim of, civil-military cooperation and mutual relations in a multi-cultural, religious, multi-ethnic.
