SIMULTANEOUS TO WORLD CHILDREN'S DAY 23 INFANTRY DIVISION ORGANIZED CHILDREN WELL-BEING PROGRAMMES

7 Light Regiment of Sri Lanka Artillery provided lunch for 130 students of Rotawa Alokarama Dhamma School and 12 Battalion Gemunu watch donated educational tools to the 22 children at Sri Indrasara Child Development Center Dehiathtakandiya, under the supervision of 231 Infantry Brigade. On the both event included providing lunch for student alongside musical entertainment and Commanding Officers, Officers, and Other Ranks of both Battalions were participated the event.

232 Infantry Brigade organized a drugs prevention awareness programme in Central College Kiran for 464 students from grade 8 to grade 12 in the school. The programme was conducted by coordinating officers of the National Dangerous Drug Control Board and the Bureau Of Commissioner General Rehabilitation Batticoloa district. The principal and 09 teachers of Kiran Central College, Officer with 10 Other Ranks from 232 Infantry Brigade participated for the event.

233 Infantry Brigade troops have repaired the shelter of a building of the Wakarei Maha Vidayalaya with participation of an officer and 10 Other Ranks and donated wheel chair for the daughter of Mr K M Masurdeen, a well needy child with a disability from a low-income family in Nawasenapura, Welikanda. The wheel chair is presented by the Commanding Officer 9 Field Regiment Sri Lanka Artillery, Lieutenant Colonel MIS Chandrakumara USP psc IG. Those events were conducted under supervision of overlooking Brigade Commander, 233 Infantry Brigade, Colonel KSP Pothupitiya USP psc IG.

The primary objectives of those programmes were to bring joy to the kids by celebrating World Children’s Day. The events were arranged on simultaneous to World Children's day on 01 and 02 October 2023. The programmes were organized under the conceptual guidance of Major General MKUP Gunaratne RSP ndu psc IG, the Commander, Security Forces - East, and organized with the directions of Major General KVNP Premaratne RSP USP psc, General Officer Commanding, the 23 Infantry Division.
