    The Sappers 4X4 Gympo 2019 Off - Road challenge conducted by the Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers in association with the Four-Wheel Drive Club (FWDC) and the Sri Lanka Motor Cycle Riders Association was worked off for the ninth successive year on 08th September 2019 at the Sapper Off Road Arena, Embilipitiya.

  • TWENTY SECOND COMMANDER OF THE ARMY GENERAL MAHESH SENANAYAKE INAUGURATES NEW SQUASH COURT AT ‘HOME OF SAPPERS’ MATTEGODA

    General Mahesh Senanayake laid the foundation stone for a newly designed Sport Complex and ceremonially declare opened the newly constructed Squash Court at ‘Home of Sappers’ Mattegoda amidst religious observances during a brief ceremony held. The Chief Field Engineer Maj Gen Thissa Nanayakkara welcomed the Twenty Second Commander of the Sri Lanka Army General Mahesh Senanayake the Chef Guest on his arrival and bestowed with a guard turnout at Home of Sappers Mattegoda on 23 August 2019. The Twenty Second Commander of the Army General Senanayake threw two courts by making the first service and appreciated construction work carried out by 4 (V) Engineer Troops.

    Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers hosted ceremonial farewell formalities for General Mahesh Senanayake the Fourth Sapper Commander of the Army one of its exemplary Senior Officers produced by the Corps. General Mahesh Senanayake, the Fourth Sapper Commander of the Army is a well dignified military leader and a legendary Sapper officer who possess 38 years’ of illustrious military career. On his arrival at the Corps Headquarters General Mahesh Senanayake was warmly welcomed by Major General Jagath Gunawardena the Commander Security Forces (Wanni) and the Colonel Commandant Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers along with the Centre Commandant Brigadier Ravindra Dias before according the formal Guard Turnout.

    The Corps of Engineer Services bade farewell to Major General H J S Gunawardena RSP VSV USP ndc psc the Commander Security Forces (Wanni) and the Colonel Commandant Sri Lanka Engineers upon his relinquishment of the appointment of Colonel Commandant Corps of Engineer Services on 9 August 2019.

  • MAJOR GENERAL JAGATH GUNAWARDENA ASSUMES OFFICE AS THE NEW COLONEL COMMANDANT OF CORPS OF SRI LANKA ENGINEERS

    Newly appointed 17th Colonel Commandant of Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers, Major General Jagath Gunawardena, took the office during a charming ceremony held at Corps Headquarters on 25 July 2019, was greeted with Military honours and ceremonials before a large gathering of Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks. Major General Jagath Gunawardena, is presently performing duties as the Commander Security Forces (Wanni) and as the Colonel Commandant Corps of Engineer Services. He is a proud product of D S Senanayake College.

  • CORPS OF SRI LANKA ENGINEERS BIDS FAREWELL FOR RETIRING COLONEL COMMANDANT

    A Farewell for retiring Major General Darshana Hettiarrachchi, the Colonel Commandant of Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers, was held on 22 July 2019 at Corps Headquarters. A large gathering of Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks attended the event. The General who completed more than 35 yrs of service has joined the Army as an Officer Cadet in March 1984 and Commissioned on 16 November 1985.

    Newly constructed Sappers Lake View officers’ holiday bungalow at Diyathalawa was ceremonially opened by the Colonel Commandant of the Corps of Engineers Maj Gen DDUK Hettiarrachchi RSP VSV USP ndu psc amidst religious observances held on 19 July 2019.

  • MAJOR GENERAL JAGATH GUNAWARDENA RSP VSV USP ndc psc ASSUMES OFFICE AS THE 18TH COMMANDER OF SECURITY FORCE (WANNI)

    Newly appointed Commander Security Force (Wanni) Major General Jagath Gunawardena RSP VSV USP ndc psc took over duties on 04 July 2019. The Security Force Commander was bestowed with a guard turn out and guard of honour by troops of 8 Field Engineers Regiment. After the formal military honours, Major General Jagath Gunawardena auspiciously took over duties as the 18th Commander of Security Force (Wanni) amidst the religious observances. The troop address took place at the Headquarters Auditorium with the presence of over 800 troops representing all under command formations to Security Force Headquarters (Wanni).
