The Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers (SLE) presented military honours and warm greetings to the newly-appointed Colonel Commandant of the Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers, Major General Nihal Amarasekara, the Chief Field Engineer of Sri Lanka Army, during a formal ceremony held on 05 February 2021 at the Regimental Headquarters SLE Panagoda as he arrived at the premises as the 19th Colonel Commandant of the Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers.

The Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers (SLE) Regimental Headquarters at Panagoda on 02nd February 2021 bade farewell to the 18th Colonel Commandant of the Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers and the Additional Director of Defence Headquarters Construction Project, Major General Kumara Peiris, who has added colours to the Regiment well over 35 years during a customary farewell ceremony.

A newly constructed house was declared opened as a result of the initiative by the Commander of the Sri Lanka Army to build houses for the deceased and differently abled soldiers. The opening ceremony of the house was graced by the Colonel Commandant of the Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers Major General HRKP Peiris VSV USP ndu as the chief guest on 22 January 2021.

Major General Jagath Gunawardena, 55th Chief of staff of Sri Lanka Army and the 17th Colonel Commandant of Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers (SLE) received a customary farewell on 14 December 2020 when he called at Regimental Headquarters – Panagoda before he retires from the Army after a productive service of more than 35 years.

The newly-constructed Conventional Centre for All Army Officers at Sappers Leisure Bay in Mattegoda Camp was declared open by Major General Jagath Gunawardena, the Chief of Staff of the Sri Lanka Army and the Colonel Commandant of the Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers amidst chanting of ‘Seth Pirith’ and blessings of the Maha Sangha on 14 December 2020.

The Annual Friendly Sappers Cricket Encounter took place for the sixth consecutive year on 12 December 2020 at the Sappers Cricket Stadium Mattegoda. The event was organized by the 14 CBRN Regiment. Major General Jagath Gunawardena, the Chief of Staff of the Sri Lanka Army and the Colonel Commandant of the Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers graced the event as the Chief Guest together with the participation of Senior Sapper Officers, Officers and Other Ranks.

Major General Jagath Gunawardena, the Chief of Staff of the Sri Lanka Army and the Colonel Commandant of the Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and declared open the newly constructed Officers’ Accommodation, Golf Course and the New Store Section of 16 Workshop Regiment SLE on 12 December 2020 at Mattegoda Army Camp Premises. The Chief Guest on his arrival at the 5 Field Engineer Regiment SLE was warmly welcomed by the Commanding Officer Lieutenant Colonel Gihan Thilakarathne.
