  • ASSUMING DUTIES AS CENTRE COMMANDANT SLE

    Brigadier NKLSR Dias RSP assumed duties as the 19th Centre Commandant of the Regimental Headquarters Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers on Monday 11th February 2019. The newly appointed Centre Commandant was accorded with a Guard turnout on his arrival and laid a wreath at the RHQ SLE monument. Before assuming duties Brigadier NKLSR Dias RSP participated in religious activities and took over duties in the presence of the Maha Sanga chanting Seth Pirith and blessing the new Centre Commandant.

    Maj Gen SK Thirunavukarasu RSP USP retired from the Regular Force of the Sri Lanka Army on 28 January 2018 on completing 34 years of dedicated and committed service.

  • CORPS OF SRI LANKA ENGINEERS CELEBRATES ITS 67th ANNIVERSARY

    In line with the anniversary functions a Floral Tribute to Fallen War Heroes in the Corps of Engineers was conducted at the War Heroes’ Monument. The event conveyed a deep reverence to the fallen War Heroes in the Corps of Engineers, who made the supreme sacrifice in liberating our motherland from the clutches of terrorism. A large gathering consisting of spouses, children, parents and next of kin of the fallen War Heroes participated at this event on 10th November 2018. On the invitation of the Colonel Commandant the Commander of the Sri Lanka Army Lt Gen NUMMW Senanayake RWP RSP USP USACGSC graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. The event commenced with the Lighting of the monument lamp followed by the National Anthem, Army Song and the Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers Song. Two minutes silence was observed in memory of the fallen war heroes followed by the Narration of remembering the Fallen War Heroes. A “Ranabera Wadanaya” was displayed as a special event of the day followed by religious observances of major denominations. A brief sermon by Buddhist, Christian, Hindu and Islamic clergy invoked blessings and offered merits on fallen Sapper War Heroes and those presently serving.

  • CORPS OF SRI LANKA ENGINEERS REACHED THE MILESTONE OF 67

    The Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers celebrated its 67th Anniversary on a grand scale at the Regimental Headquarters Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers, Panagoda on 9 November 2018.

  • AWARDING OF CERTIFICATES TO SAPPERS WHO QUALIFIED IN NVQ LEVEL III AND IV

    The award ceremony for 42 Sappers who successfully completed the National Vocational Qualification - Level 3 and 4 (NVQ-Level 3,4) was conducted at the Lt Gen Angammana memorial Hall on 09 November 2018 to coincide with the 67th Anniversary. The Chief Guest of the event was the Colonel Commandant and several Senior Officers participated for this ceremony. The Certificates were awarded to Sappers who had successfully completed the evaluations conducted by Technical College, Ratmalana. Tradesman from the fields of masonry (Construction Craftsmanship), Carpentry (Building Construction), aluminum work and Welding received certificates.

  • SAPPERS ANNUAL CRICKET ENCOUNTER 2018

    The Annual Friendly Sappers Cricket Encounter took place for the fourth consecutive year on 27 October 2018 at the Sappers Cricket Stadium Maththegoda. The event was organized by the 16 Workshop Regiment under the supervision of the Commanding Officer Lt Col KASJ Kodithuwakku SLE. Maj Gen(Retd) GDI Karunaratne RSP psc graced the thrilling event as the Chief Guest together with the participation of several Senior Sapper Officers, Officers and Other Ranks.

  • OUTGOING DGGS MAJOR GENERAL G D I KARUNARATHNE RSP psc ACCORDED WITH CEREMONIAL HONOURS ON HIS RETIREMENT

    The Sapper family bid farewell to Major General G D I Karunarathne RSP psc on 26 October 2018. Major General G D I Karunarathne RSP psc retired on completion of 35 years in the Army and he was accorded with full military honours at the Headquarters Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers, Panagoda.

  • SAPPERS 4X4 GYMPO 2018 CONCLUDED SUCCESSFULLY

    The Sappers 4X4 Gympo 2018 Off - Road challenge conducted by the Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers in association with the Four Wheel Drive Club (FWDC) and the Sri Lanka Motor Cycle Riders Association was worked off for the eighth successive year on 02nd September 2018 at the Sapper Off Road Arena, Embilipitiya.

  • CORPS OF SRI LANKA ENGINEERS BID FAREWELL FOR OUTGOING MAJOR GENERAL MERVIN PERERA

    A farewell for retiring Major General Mervin Perera was held on 28 August 2018 at the Corps Headquarters. A large gathering of Senior Officers, Officers, and Other Ranks attended on the event. Major General Merving Perera enlisted to the Army on 14 June 1895, as an Officer Cadet to the Intake SSC 5 and rendered his service to the Sri Lanka Army for a period of 33 Years. During his illustrious military career he held number of key appointments in Sri Lanka Army including Commanding Officer for three Units, Military observer, Commander 612, 524 Brigade, Brigadier (Doctrine development) ARTRAC, General Officer Commanding 51 Division, Director General of Overseas Operations.
