Extending an impressive gesture of goodwill, the US Embassy in Colombo donated EOD equipment to the Sri Lanka Army for the use of Combat Convoy Company (CCC), United Nation Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in Mali (UNMINUSMA). This special donation was made by a delegation headed by Commander Ross Peters the Chief, Office of Defence Cooperation and Security Cooperation Specialist Kapila Dissanayake from the US Embassy. On behalf of the Commander of the Army Gen LHSC Silva WWV RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc MPhil the donation was accepted by the Chief Field Engineer of Sri Lanka Army and Colonel Commandant of Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers Maj Gen AN Amarasekara USP ndu and the Commanding Officer of 14 CBRN Response Regiment SLE on 17 August 2021 at the Convention Center, Mattegoda. The equipment donated consist of 2 x Remotely Operated Vehicles (ROV) and 6 x Bomb Disposal Suits (BD Suits).

The Middeniya primary school which is located astride of Middneiya – Panamura road (B286) was in need of an overhead bridge for the use of school children, teachers and parents due to the heavy traffic along the road. In November 2020, during the visit by H E the President to Middeniya, the school children, teachers and parents requested for an overhead bridge considering the safety of the school children.

Sri Lanka Army Humanitarian Demining Unit (SLAHDU) unit of the Sri Lanka Engineers (SLE) as per instructions of the Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army, General Shavendra Silva is expeditiously working towards the effective accomplishment of the national target for overall de-mining by the year end in 2022 after clearing all identified and hazardous areas of explosive remnants as stipulated in the original country plan of de-mining.
