Major General S A Kulatunge RWP RSP VSV USP psc assumed duties as the 4th General Officer Commanding of Sri Lanka Army Engineer Division on 8 June 2023. As per military tradition the in coming General Officer Commanding was welcomed to the Headquarters of the Engineer Division with a guard of honour and later Maj Gen S A Kulatunge took over duties of his new office amidst the chanting of Seth pirith. On conclusion of the excellently arranged military formalities, Maj Gen Kulatunge addressed the troops.

Maj Gen MK Jayawardena RSP VSV USP ndu assumed duties as the new Commander of Security Forces Headquarters - Mullaitivu amid religious blessings at his office on 09 June 2023. At the entrance, the incoming Commander reviewed the Guard Turnout and later on received the salute in the Guard of Honour presented by the troops of Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers.

Major General Lanka Amarapala RWP RSP ndc psc relinquished duties as Commander Engineer Division after completion of eight month in the office, highest standard of farewell formalities given him by the division including Guard turnout, colorful farewell parade for outgoing Commander. Major General Lanka Amarapala RWP RSP ndc psc addressed the division troops at Convention Hall at home of Sappers. During his address, he appreciated the contribution given by all ranks in his tenure. Further, he elaborated his concept of operational readiness of the men and equipment and measures taken to ensure it through training, awareness programs, workshops and zoom lectures. Also mentioned effort taken to uplifts the CBRNe preparedness by graduating 45 x 225 troops men and women in his short spell of tenure to enhance capability and capacity at Security Headquarter level identifying the global and regional CBRNe security landscape, although we are at lack of facilities in field of detection equipment in the subject matter, emphasized importance of skill development of troops to carryout related tasks.

The Sri Lanka Army Engineer Division took initiatives to launch CBRNe Courses in month of November, 2022. This initiative stipulated through the guidance of the Commander, Engineer Division Maj Gen Lanka Amarapala RWP RSP ndc psc within the framework of ensuring National Security for Sri Lanka and in-line with intention of the Commander of the Army Lt Gen Vikum Liyanage RWP RSP ndu. Course Participants were selected from each Engineer unit located at respective Security Force Headquarters of the Sri Lanka Army.
