SAPPERS WON AGAINST OLD NALANDIANS IN INDEPENDENCE CUP T20 CRICKET MATCH

In a captivating showdown at the Independence Cup 2024 T20 cricket match on 4 February 2024, the Sapper Cricket Ground in Mattegoda witnessed an intense battle between the Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers under the captaincy of Major General Manoj Madurapperuma RSP USP psc and the Nalanda Old Boys. The event not only showcased outstanding cricket performances but also highlighted the spirit of sportsmanship and civil-military coordination.

This marked the sixth encounter between the two teams, culminating in a thrilling contest. Major Ruwan Herath's exceptional century and stellar performances from Sapper cricketers propelled the Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers to a challenging score of 180 for 4 wickets.

Despite the resilient efforts of Nalanda Old Boys, with notable contributions from Sampath Hettiarachchi and Keweju Rathnayake scoring 50 and 31 runs respectively, the Sapper Cricket team emerged victorious by a narrow margin of 3 runs.
