The 12th Defence Services Triathlon Championship -2023 hosted by the Sri Lanka Navy was successfully held in the Thiriyaya sea area and Kuchchaweli town on 04th April 2023. The Sri Lanka Army men and women athletes put in strong performances in their events and emerged championship of men’s category and Runners up of women’s category. Top male and female athletes from across the tri forces competed in the tournament which was a grueling test of endurance and skill. From the Army, it was participated by 10 male and 05 female athletes. The endurance multisport race consisted of swimming (750m), cycling (20km), and running (05km) segments that tested physical and mental stamina of the participants.

United States Department of Defence Donated 12x Handheld Detectors (VMR3 Mine Hound) and VMR 3 Mine Hound Spare parts to the Corps of Engineers through USG Grant Equipment project. Equipment were officially hand over to the Major General M K Jayawardena RSP VSV USP ndu by a ceremonial event held at SLAF Base Katunayake on 27 March 2023.

The team of 3 lady officers and 43 women soldiers proved their skills in front of the UN high profiled distinguished delegation on the invitation of commander Engineer Division at Army Camp Mattegoda The inaugural of the Field Engineering Basic Module and Humanitarian Demining Course for Sri Lanka Women soldiers commenced on last year at the Vavuniya- based Field Engineer Brigade and 10 field engineers located Mailaddy –Jaffna.

Major General Lanka Amarapala RWP RSP ndu psc has visited the last day training session on Formulation of National Emergency plan for Radiological and Nuclear Emergencies that has been organized conducted by Sri Lanka Atomic Energy Regulatory Council with direct supervision and consultation of International Expert from International Atomic Energy Agency. Representatives of Atomic Energy Regulatory Council, Atomic Energy Board, Sri Lanka Disaster management Center, Sri Lanka Army CBRNe, Navy, Airforce, Ministry of Health, Coastal guard, Fire brigade, Department of Metrology, Water Board , Suwasariya Ambulance service, Port Authority and Custom took part in the event which was conducted for five days. It was heavy dose of discussion on Radiological and Nuclear emergency respond planning and identification of exercise objectives in “SMART” concept according to IAEA sought international standards, and to make sure the safety and security of the Sri Lankan.

The 14th contingent of the Sri Lanka Force Protection Company (SLFPC) in the United Nations Interim Force In Lebanon (UNIFIL) before their departure to take over peacekeeping roles on 28 February 2023 presented a ceremonial salute to the Commander of the Army at the Sri Lanka Artillery Regimental Headquarters parade ground at Panagoda.
