  • FORCE COMMANDER IN MALI - MINUSMA APPRECIATES THE SRI LANKA 4TH COMBAT CONVOY COMPANY

    Sri Lanka Combat Convoy Company (CCC) has been engaging in convoy protection duties in Mali since the year 2017 as a request of the United Nations. During the last two months, the tendency of terrorist activities has increased and the peacekeeping groups of other countries have refused to participate in the convoy escort duties. Although, the Sri Lanka Combat Convoy Company was entrusted with the responsibility of the logistics convoy from Gao to Kidal from 04 July 2022 to 16 July 2022.

  • UNIFIL PEACEKEEPERS SWIMMING TOURNAMENT- 2022

    The United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) Swimming Competition - 2022 was held on 27 May at the UNIFIL Swimming Pool, Naqoura. The competition commenced with an opening ceremony with the participation of UNIFIL Officials and the Battalion Commanders. The participants were from Sector -West, Sector - East and FHQSU battalions and the contingents as well as the Force Commander Reserve (FCR) and the Maritime Task Force (MTF). The Chief Guest was the Head of Mission and Force Commander Major General Aroldo LA’ZARO SA’ENZ. The achievements of the Sri Lankan peacekeepers are as follows;

  • 4TH CCC CONTINGENT FOR MALI FOR DEPARTURE ON 2022.05.24

    One more contingent of 100 well-trained, meticulously-prepared and professionally-trained Army personnel in the Combat Convoy Company (CCC), designed to serve in the United Nations (UN) Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in Mali (MINUSMA) left for Mali this evening (23) as the first group of the contingent of 243 troops, set to leave in stages.

    A neatly-organized military ceremony at the Gemunu Watch (GW) Regimental Headquarters at Kuruwita, Ratnapura this morning (4) laid a red carpet welcome to the Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army, General Shavendra Silva when he arrived there as the Chief Guest to receive the formal salute of the 4th contingent of 243 Army personnel, set to leave to serve in the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in Mali (MINUSMA).

  • UNMISS BOUND FIRST ARMY GROUP LEAVES FOR SOUTH SUDAN

    The first group of the 8th Army contingent of the Sri Lanka Army Medical Corps (SLAMC), bound for the United Nations Peace-Keeping Mission in South Sudan’s Level-2 Hospital (UNMISS) to serve the SRIMED Hospital left for South Sudan during early morning hours on Wednesday (29) amidst greetings of the Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army, General Shavendra Silva who showed up at the airport despite his day's hectic schedules.

  • LEBANON’S SRI LANKAN TROOPS AT UNIFIL RECEIVE MEDALS

    The Medal Parade of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL), the military ceremony that appreciates the exemplary dedication, made by any specific contingent, took place on 26th November 2021 at the UNIFIL Headquarters in Naqoura, Lebanon where the Sri Lankan contingent, was honoured awarding medals.

  • SRIMED LEVEL- 2 HOSPITAL MANAGEMENT IN SOUTH SUDAN (UNMISS) LAUDED

    The South Sudan-based SRIMED Level-2 Hospital, currently managed by the 7th Sri Lankan contingent came in for praise of the Hospital Evaluation Assessment of the Field HQ of the UN Mission in South Sudan during the evaluation review conducted by them.

  • US GOVERNMENT DONATES EOD EQUIPMENT TO SUPPORT UN MISSIONS

    The US Embassy in Colombo, extending an impressive gesture of goodwill, donated Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) equipment to the Sri Lanka Army for the use of Combat Convoy Company (CCC) operations in the United Nations (UN) Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in Mali (MINUSMA).

  • AMBASSADOR & UNIFIL HEAD OF MISSION CALL AT SRI LANKAN CAMP

    Sri Lankan Ambassador for Lebanon and Syria, Her Excellency, Mrs Shani Calyaneratne Karunarathne paid a courtesy visit to the office of Major General Stefano Del, Head of Mission and Force Commander of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) at the UNIFIL-HQ. Further, both delegates had cordial discussions on matters of mutual relevance during the session and mementos were exchanged between the senior officer and the Sri Lankan ambassador to mark the occasion.
