  • SRI LANKAN & INDONESIAN CONVOYS IN SOUTH LEBANON CONDUCT JOINT ROAD PATROL

    A Team of the Sri Lanka Force Protection Company (SFPC) and Indonesian Force Protection Company (FPC), based in South Lebanon recently conducted a joint Armoured Personnel Carrier (APC) and Light Vehicle Road Patrol on 19th February 2021 along the road running in front of the UNIFIL HQ (Mingy street) in South Lebanon for the first time in the UNIFIL’s history where both Contingents (SLFPC & INDO FPC) joined such an operation.

    On National Independence Day (4 Feb), Lieutenant Colonel Sujeewa Batagalla, Contingent Commander of the Force Protection Company (FPC) for the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) in the company of a cross section of the contingent troops hoisted the national flag, sang the national anthem, observed the 2-minute silence to remember fallen War Heroes at the UNIFIL Base before the Contingent Commander read out the message of the Commander of the Army, issued on account of the 73rd Independence day ceremony.

    The Sri Lankan Combat Convoy Company (LKACCC) serving the UN Mission in Mali (MINSUMA) received commendation from the Director Mission Support, Lieutenant Colonel (Retd) Anton Antvhev when he arrived at the LKACCC HQ in Mali on account of the National Independence Day of Sri Lanka (4 February).

    Despite hectic schedules, Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva, Chief of Defence Staff, Commander of the Army and Head of the National Operations Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO) made it a point to meet and extend greetings to the 1st group of the 7th Army contingent of the Sri Lanka Army Medical Corps (SLAMC), bound for United Nations Peace-Keeping Mission in South Sudan’s Level-2 Hospital (UNMISS) when they arrived at the Colombo International Airport during the small hours on Tuesday (17).

    The first team of four Officers and 26 Other Ranks in theSri Lanka Army Medical Corps' (SLAMC) 6th contingent who completed their near 16-month long tenure of service in the United Nations Peace-Keeping Mission in South Sudan's (UNMISS) Level-2 Hospital returned home this morning (16) and was despatched directly to the the Diyatalawa and Passara Quarantine Centres for necessary quarantine procedures.

  • MINUSMA FORCE COMMANDER COMPLIMENTS ON ROLE OF SRI LANKAN CONVOY

    Force Commander in Mali United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in Mali (MINUSMA), Lieutenant General Dennis Gyllensporre called at the Sri Lankan Combat Convoy Company on 19 September 2020, deployed in landlocked Mali in West Africa and received an update on the role, being performed by the Sri Lankan Combat Convoy Company.

  • ARMY-PRODUCED NEW UNIBUFFELS LAND IN MALI & UNDERGO ACCLIMATIZATION TRIALS

    The Army's Sri Lanka Electrical and Mechanical Engineer (SLEME) troops-produced 9 modernized Unibuffels (improved version of Unicorns), one new recovery vehicle and 3 containers sent to Mali on United Nations (UN) Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in Mali (MINUSMA) are currently undergoing trials of acclimatization in the trouble-torn tough terrains in Mali after shipping agents unloaded them and took them to the MINUSMA HQ, a few days ago.
