    The second batch of 2 Officers and 48 Other Ranks, bound for UN Peacekeeping Mission in Lebanon as the Army’s 13th contingent of the Sri Lanka Force Protection Company (FPC) left for Lebanon on Sunday (27) amidst greetings and best wishes.

    The first batch of the Army's 13th Sri Lankan Force Protection Company (FPC) of 75 Army troops, bound for the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL), inclusive of women soldiers of the Sri Lanka Army Women's Corps (SLAWC), amidst Greetings of Major General Vikum Liyanage, Chief of Staff, Officers, Other Ranks and relatives left for Lebanon this afternoon (5).

  • 8TH ARMY CONTINGENT FOR UN SOUTH SUDAN'S SRIMED HOSPITAL READY FOR DEPARTURE

    The 8th contingent of the Sri Lanka Army Medical Corps (SLAMC), set to leave for United Nations Peace-Keeping Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) to serve the Level-2 SRIMED Hospital hours before their departure presented a ceremonial salute to General Shavendra Silva, Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army at the SLAMC Regimental Headquarters ground at Werahera this morning (24).

  • MINUSMA’S FORCE COMMANDER COMPLIMENTS SRI LANKAN TROOPS

    During a recent visit to the Headquarters Sector East by the Force Commander - MINUSMA, Lieutenant General Dennis Gyllensporre, the Sri Lanka Army Combat Convoy Company (LKACCC) Contingent Commander Lieutenant Colonel Srinath Gallage was called on to the office and appreciated tasks, being performed by the LKACCC.

  • SRI LANKAN & INDONESIAN CONVOYS IN SOUTH LEBANON CONDUCT JOINT ROAD PATROL

    A Team of the Sri Lanka Force Protection Company (SFPC) and Indonesian Force Protection Company (FPC), based in South Lebanon recently conducted a joint Armoured Personnel Carrier (APC) and Light Vehicle Road Patrol on 19th February 2021 along the road running in front of the UNIFIL HQ (Mingy street) in South Lebanon for the first time in the UNIFIL’s history where both Contingents (SLFPC & INDO FPC) joined such an operation.

  • UN TROOPS IN LEBANON & SOUTH SUDAN CONTRIBUTE TO NATIONAL INDEPENDENCE DAY COMMEMORATION

    On National Independence Day (4 Feb), Lieutenant Colonel Sujeewa Batagalla, Contingent Commander of the Force Protection Company (FPC) for the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) in the company of a cross section of the contingent troops hoisted the national flag, sang the national anthem, observed the 2-minute silence to remember fallen War Heroes at the UNIFIL Base before the Contingent Commander read out the message of the Commander of the Army, issued on account of the 73rd Independence day ceremony.

  • MISSION SUPPORT DIRECTOR PRAISES SL ARMY ROLE IN MALI ON INDEPENDENCE DAY

    The Sri Lankan Combat Convoy Company (LKACCC) serving the UN Mission in Mali (MINSUMA) received commendation from the Director Mission Support, Lieutenant Colonel (Retd) Anton Antvhev when he arrived at the LKACCC HQ in Mali on account of the National Independence Day of Sri Lanka (4 February).

    Despite hectic schedules, Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva, Chief of Defence Staff, Commander of the Army and Head of the National Operations Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO) made it a point to meet and extend greetings to the 1st group of the 7th Army contingent of the Sri Lanka Army Medical Corps (SLAMC), bound for United Nations Peace-Keeping Mission in South Sudan’s Level-2 Hospital (UNMISS) when they arrived at the Colombo International Airport during the small hours on Tuesday (17).

  • 6TH CONTINGENT SERVING UNMISS BEGINS RETURNING AFTER COMPLETION OF TENURE IN SOUTH SUDAN

    The first team of four Officers and 26 Other Ranks in theSri Lanka Army Medical Corps' (SLAMC) 6th contingent who completed their near 16-month long tenure of service in the United Nations Peace-Keeping Mission in South Sudan's (UNMISS) Level-2 Hospital returned home this morning (16) and was despatched directly to the the Diyatalawa and Passara Quarantine Centres for necessary quarantine procedures.
