  • ARMY-INVOLVED TEMPLE CONSTRUCTIONS IN PROGRESS IN THE EAST

    Various construction projects at Buddhist temples in Trincomalee, Apmara and Polonnaruwa districts are underway with the manpower, technical and engineering expertise of the troops of 22, 23 and 24 Divisions under command to Security Force Headquarters (East) under the guidance of the Commander Security Force (East) Major General Channa Weerasuriya and the GOCs of respective Divisions.

  • 22 INFANTRY DIV TROOPS STACK A SAND BAG BUND TO TAKE WATER FROM MAHAVELI RIVER TO KANTHALE WATER PURIFICATION PLANT

    Due to the prevailing weather condition, the water level of Mahaveli River has been decreased. Therefore, as per the request made by National Water Supply and Drainage Board – Kanthale, with the direction of GOC 22 Infantry Division Major General WBWMRSP Aluvihare RWP RSP and with the supervision of Commander 222 Infantry Brigade, 01 x 10 troops of 22 VIR and 00 x 10 troops of 5(V)SLA constructed a sand bag bund to take water from Mahaveli River to Kanthale Water Purification Plant.

  • 24 DIVISION TROOPS CONDUCT A DONATION OF DRY RATION PACKS FOR LOW INCOME FAMILIES AND “SUWADHARANI” MEDICINE DISTRIBUTION PROGRAMME

    With the aim of uplifting the living standards of the people affected by the rapidly spreading COVID - 19 pandemic, troops of 3rd (Volunteer) Battalion of Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment conducted a donation programme to distribute dry ration packs for selected 20 low income families in the Periyanilkaweni 1B GN Division in Ampara on 10th September 2021.

  • 24 DIVISION VACCINATION DRIVE COVERS UHANA AND POTHUVIL

    The island-wide COVID-19 vaccination programme of the Army, launched with the blessings of HE the President under the directions of General Shavendra Silva, Head of the National Operation Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak, Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army covered Uhana and Pothuvil areas on Friday (03) under the supervision of the Major General Chaminda Lamahewa, General Officer Commanding 24 Infantry Division.

  • ARMY MOBILE VACCINATION DRIVE COVERS NINDAVUR & KARATIVU

    The Army mobile COVID-19 vaccination fleet that prioritizes the vaccination of the elderly, sick, handicapped and feeble sections in society over 60 years of age in Ampara District started its inoculation in the Karative and Nindavur areas on Thursday (26), covering 17 GS divisions in Karativu and 25 GS divisions in Nindavur. The arrangement was fully supported by the Security Force Headquarters - East on the directions of Major General C D Weerasuriya RWP RSP ndu, Commander, Security Forces - East.
