FMA-EAST TROOPS GIVE HELPING HAND TO 'DEMALA MAHA SEYA' RENOVATIONS

The troops of the Forward Maintenance Area - East (FMA-East) on Saturday (16 October) gave their helping hand for the ongoing renovations of 'Demala Maha Seya', a Stupa constructed by King Parakramabahu the Great in the 12th century BC that lies between the Gal Viharaya (rock shrine) and Thiwanka Pilimage (image house) in the ancient city of Polonnaruwa.

The full-day project, launched under the guidance of the Commander, Security Forces - East, Major General Channa Weerasuriya and the Commander, Forward Maintenance Area - East, Major General Mahesh Abeyrathna was supervised by the Staff Officer 1 (Admin) FMA - East Lieutenant Colonel Nandathilaka. A total number of 100 troops representing the under command battalions of FMA (E) engaged in this worthy cause.
