According to a concept of the President of Seva Vanitha Branch, Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers, Mrs. Surangi Amarapala, 5 Field Engineer Regiment took the initiative to organize an event to enhance physical and mental health of 28 elderly mothers and fathers residing at the Thusitha Elders’ Home at Maththegoda on Wednesday, 28 August 2024.

In a significant step towards enhancing the technical capabilities of military engineers, the Plant Engineer Brigade recently conducted a construction survey workshop. These workshops introduced and trained personnel in the use of advanced surveying instruments, including the GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System), Total Station, and Level Instrument. The sessions were led by Captain KWD Sachinthana SLE Bsc.Syr (Sp). AMSI (SL), under the guidance and direction of the Plant Engineer Brigade Commander.

The 10 Field Engineer Regiment which was raised on 03 August 2007 proudly marked their 17th anniversary this year, marking yet another milestone by showcasing glamour and pride in a grand scale. Series of religious and military formalities were organized with the participation of the Commanding Officer Major L V R C N Bandara RSP psc SLE as the Chief Guest.

Major D W G I D Somakeerthi USP psc SLE assumed duties as the 33rd Commanding Officer of the 1 Field Engineer Regiment on 5th August 2024 amidst formal military traditions and religious rituals. Newly appointed Commanding Officer was warmly welcomed by Major W A M Samaranayake SLE Officer Commanding of 10 HQ Squadron upon his arrival at the Headquarters premises.
