Brigadier C D Wickramanayake WV RSP ndc, the Chief Field Engineer of the Sri Lanka Army, conducted an official visit to the 7 Field Engineer Regiment on October 4, 2025. The visit served as an opportunity to assess the regiment's operational readiness, administrative efficiency, and training programs.
Upon his arrival, the Chief Field Engineer was accorded a Guard Turnout, followed by a detailed briefing from the Commanding Officer. The briefing covered the unit's current operational deployments, administrative functions, and training initiatives. Following the briefing, the Chief Field Engineer addressed the officers, emphasizing the importance of maintaining high standards in unit administration, training rigor, and unwavering discipline.
The Chief Field Engineer also addressed the troops, acknowledging the 7 SLE's distinguished history and the heroic contributions made during humanitarian operations. He lauded the dedication and courage demonstrated by the regiment's members throughout its service. He further encouraged all soldiers to maintain the Regiment's esteemed traditions through unwavering discipline, consistent physical fitness, and exemplary conduct in all aspects of their lives.
The day's agenda included a thorough inspection of the camp premises, where the Chief Field Engineer assessed living standards and the operational readiness of the troops. A group photograph was taken with the officers to commemorate the visit, and a tree planting ceremony was held, symbolizing unity and growth within the Regiment.
The visit culminated in an All-Ranks tea, providing an informal setting for the Chief Field Engineer to interact with officers and other ranks. This fostered camaraderie and strengthened bonds within the Corps.
Before departing, Brigadier Chandana Wickramanayake signed the Visitors' Book, expressing his gratitude for the dedication of all ranks and wishing the 7 Field Engineer Regiment continued success.
In addition to the visit to the 7 Field Engineer Regiment, the Chief Field Engineer also conducted site visits to the Regional Ordnance Depot Complex (RODC) – Punani and Agunukolapalessa. These visits were to observe the progress of ongoing earthmoving tasks.
