Major AU Hidallaarachchi RSP USP SLE officially assumed duties as the 18th Commanding Officer of the 8 Field Engineer Regiment on 28 September 2024, amidst formal military traditions. Upon his arrival at the regiment headquarters in Boo Oya, he was warmly welcomed by Major WASW Pieris RSP USP SLE, the Second-in-Command (Overlooking).

The 11 Field Engineer Regiment, under the guidance of the SLE Seva Vanitha Branch, recently organized an event for the distribution of dry ration parcels to support selected soldiers within the unit. The programme was successfully launched under the direction of Lieutenant Colonel Kelum Kudagamage SLE, the Commanding Officer of 11 Field Engineer Regiment. This welfare initiative provided each soldier with a pack worth Rs. 10,000, offering much-needed assistance to the soldiers and their families.

The Seva Vanitha Branch of the Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers hosted its monthly meeting on Sunday, 29 th September 2024, at the Regimental Centre, Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers. The meeting was presided by Mrs. Surangi Amarapala, the President of the SLE Seva Vanitha Branch, and attended by Mrs. Anupama Rathnayake, the Treasurer, along with the spouses of serving officers.

By extending welfare activities further, the Seva Vanitha Branch of the Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers launched an essential study materials donation programme in collaboration with the 16 Workshop Regiment SLE. This initiative aimed to support the children of the late Corporal Nandana AWDDN, who passed away in 2021 while participating in Peace Support Operations Training at IPSOTSL.

Army Inter Regiment Judo Championship -2024 got underway on Wednesday, 22nd to 25th September 2024 at the Gymnasium of Army Physical Training School – Panagoda. Male and Female matches under various weight categories of the tournament featured fierce doubles competition, teams representing from the Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers, Sri Lanka Signals Corps, Sri Lanka Army General Service Corps, and Sri Lanka Army Women’s Corps.

On Tuesday, 24th September 2024, Colonel Mangala Balasooriya RSP, the Overlooking Centre Commandant of the Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers, visited the Ranaviru Sevana in Ragama by representing the Commander Security Forces (West) and the Colonel Commandant of the Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers, Major General Lanka Amarapala RWP RSP ndc psc. The purpose of his visit was to inquire about the well-being of following resident War Heroes belong to the Sappers Family who are currently undergoing treatments such as Occupational therapy, Physio therapy and Cognitive behavioural therapy.
