NEW DEPUTY CENTRE COMMANDANT ASSUMES DUTIES

Colonel P G C S Gallage RWP RSP assumed the office as the 13th Deputy Centre Commandant of Regimental Centre Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment on 05 December 2022 during a brief ceremony at the VIR Regimental Headquarters, Boyagane, Kurunegala.
Colonel Shrinath Gallage was enlisted to Sri Lanka Army Regular Force on 31 December 1993 and followed the basic military training as an Officer Cadet with Intake SC 8. After completion of training successfully he was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant on 17 June 1995 and posted to the 1st Battalion the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment.

OFFICERS TRAINING DAY FOR THE FOURTH QUARTER - 2022 WAS CONDUCTED AT RHQ VIR

Under the patronage of Director General General Staff Sri Lanka Army Headquarters and Colonel of the Regiment, Major General Nishantha Manage, Officers Training Day for the Fourth Quarter - 2022 was concluded with the participation of 220 officers at the Vijayabahu Infantry Regimental Centre on 18 November 2022 as per the directions given by the Directorate of Training – Army Headquarters, while adhering all the health precautions and guidelines stipulated to prevent COVID-19 outbreak.

ANOTHER DINERS’ CLUB SESSION WAS SUCCESSFULLY CONDUCTED AT RHQ VIR

Under the guidance of Director General General Staff Sri Lanka Army Headquarters and Colonel of the Regiment Major General Nishantha Manage, and direct supervision of Regimental Centre Commandant Brigadier Prabath Kodithuwakku, another successful Diners’ Club session was successfully held at “The Salute” Multifunctional Hall on 18 November 2022 on par with the Officers’ Training Day for the fourth quarter 2022, while adhering all the health precautions and guidelines stipulated to prevent COVID-19 outbreak.

GENERAL AMNESTY ON PROGRESS AT RHQ VIR

Under the instructions given by the Ministry of Defence and Adjutant General Branch Sri Lanka Army Headquarters, under the guidance of Director General General Staff Sri Lanka Army Headquarters and Colonel of the Regiment Major General Nishantha Manage, and direct supervision of Regimental Centre Commandant Brigadier Prabath Kodithuwakku, Regimental Centre VIR commenced processing of absent soldiers on 15 November 2022. By the end of the first day of the programme paperworks of 78 absent soldiers were processed at the Regimental Centre.

23 VIR TROOPS CONSTRUCTED NEW HOUSE FOR ANOTHER NEEDY FAMILY

Under the house construction project of the Security Force Headquarters (Mullaittivu), a completed house was handed over to a needy family in Oddusuddan Divisional Secretariat area on 09 November 2022, during a simple house warming ceremony.
Troops of 23rd Battalion the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment under the command of 642 Infantry Brigade contributed to the construction of this house with the help of funds donated by Batch - 80 (Tamil Medium) students of Royal College Colombo.

VIR SEVA VANITHA BRANCH ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING

The Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the VIR Seva Vanitha Branch was held on 13 November 2022 under the patronage of Director General General Staff Sri Lanka Army Headquarters and Colonel of the Regiment of Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment Major General Nishantha Manage at The Salute Multifunctional Hall, Boyagane, Kurunegala. The AGM was presided by the Hon. President of the VIR Seva Vanitha Branch, Mrs. Kumudu Manage and was attended by Seva Vanitha Branch Executive Committee and members.

VIR SWIMMERS BECOME CHAMPIONS AT THE ARMY INTER REGIMENT NOVICES SWIMMING CHAMPIONSHIP 2022

The Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment emerged as Champions of the Novices category of the Sri Lanka Army Inter Regiment Swimming Championship 2022 which concluded on 01 November 2022, held at Army Gymnasium, Panagoda. Chief of Staff, Major General Jagath Kodithuwakku graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.
