Officers Training Day of SLACAL was held under the guidance and supervision of the Director General Financial Management and Colonel Commandant of Sri Lanka Army Corps of Agriculture & Livestock Major General WBSM Abeysekera RSP VSV USP on 24 March 2023 at School of Agriculture & Livestock (Kilinochchi).Training day commenced with series of physical training activities,The sword drill session and officers of SLACAL were actively participted for all these events.Further, Lt Col EAAS Chaminda SLACAL conducted the lecture on the War Literature of Sri Lanka and the Officers of the 6 SLACAL delivered a presentation regarding the food security of Sri Lanka and what is the contribution by the SLACAL.During the evening session conducted the lecture on Food Security by the guest lecturer Prof.Ajith Jayaweera.The Training Day Programme was terminated the Dinner's Club organized by 6 SLACAL.

Maj RWMRMN Rathnayake Rsp psc IG SLA assumed duties as the 2nd Commanding Officer of the 5(V) Sri Lanka Army Corps of Agriculture & Livestock on 19 March 2023 at Kurumbasetti,Jaffna.He taken over the duties from the Lt.Col WPK Samaranayake psc SLA.He sapling a tree in the camp premises and conducted the troop address to the All officers and NCO's of 5(V) SLACAL.

The third Council Meeting of the Sri Lanka Army Corps of Agriculture & Livestock was held on 18 of march 2023 at the Regimental Centre - Karandeniya.The Director General Financial Management(DGFM) & Colonel Commandant of Sri Lanka Army Corps of Agriculture and Livestock Major General WBSM Abeysekera RSP VSV USP was graced the Council Meeting.Brigadier AK Rajapaksha RSP, Brigadier RPS Padmashantha Lsc, Brigadier EMGA Ambanpola, Brigadier PRBA Bandara RSP(Secretary),Colonel MAS Weligama and Colonel K Weerasinghe USP were joined with the Council Meeting as Council members.During this meeting they discussed about the Officers related matters,General matters,Admin matters, Log matters and concluded with important decisions relevant to the SLACAL.The Colonel Commandant and the Council members made a visit to the camp premises to inspect ongoing projects and developments.

5 Volunteer Sri Lanka Army Corps of Agriculture & Livestock celebrated their 1st anniversary on 7 March 2023.In Parallel to the Unit day celebrations number of events have been conducted under the supervisions of the Commanding Officer Lt Col WPK Samaranayake psc SLA.Prior to the Unit day celebrations to invoke the blessings of “Bodhi Pooja” and religious activities were conducted on 6 March 2023.
On the Anniversary day according to the military customs the guard turnout was reviwed by the Commanding Officer.He sapling a tree in the camp premises to memorable the Unit day.The Commanding Officer conducted the troop address and give away the well wishes to the troops.The All rank lunch and the musical show was held in the 5(V) SLACAL as the final event of the Unit day celebrations.

6 Sri Lanka Army Corps of Agriculture & Livestock celebrated their 1st anniversary on 7 March 2023.For the Anniversary Day celebrations the series of programmes were conducted under the guidance of the Commanding Officer Lt Col ASB Hapuwinna USP psc SLAC and the 2nd in Command Maj WTU Perera SLACAL. Prior to the Unit day on 5 March 2023,Alms giving was given to the “Yogaswami” elders home in Kilinochchi.
On 6 March 2023 the Flag Blessings Ceremony,"Kovil Poojawa"and invoke the blessings of “Bodhi Pooja” and religious activities were conducted in the 6 SLACAL temple premises.On the Unit day according to the military traditions the Commanding Officer reviewed the guard turnout.To remarkable the unit day 150 of coconut trees sapling by the officers and NCO's of the 6 SLACAL.The All rank lunch and the Musical show were held with the participation of all officers and NCO's of 6 SLACAL.

To maintain the high standards of the junior leaders,School of agriculture and livestock commenced the 2nd Young Officers Basic Agriculture and Livestock Course on 16 January 2023.The closing address of that course was held on 04 March 2023 in School of Agriculture and Livestock Murukandi.Director General Financial Management and Colonel Commandant of Sri Lanka Army Corps of Agriculture and Livestock Major General WBSM Abeysekera RSP VSV USP graced the occasion as a chief guest with the President of Seva Vanitha Branch SLACAL Mrs.Shanthi Abeysekera.

3rd Volunteer Regiment Sri Lanka Army Corps of Agriculture and Livestock Celebrated 2nd Anniversary corps day on 10th February 2023. In parallel to the corps day celebrations series of events has been scheduled under the supervision of the Commanding Officer Lt Col BMTA Baddewela RSP psc IG SLA. Keeping Religious blessings at the top most prominence “ Kiri Ahara pujawa” was conducted on 09th February morning at the Somawathiya Raja Maha Viharaya temple premises and at the same day evening Bodhipuja Pinkama” has been conducted at Somawathiya Raja Maha Viharaya with the participation of All ranks to invoke the blessings from Triple Gem.
On the Corps day (10th) according to the Military traditions and customs the 2nd in Command Maj DSC Wijesinghe SLACAL welcomed the Commanding Officer Lt Col BMTA Baddewela RSP psc IG SLA and invited to review the guard turnout at the main entrance.
Afterwards, the Commanding Officer has planted a tree sapling to mark the day memorable and then sat for a group photograph with Officers and ORs.
The Commanding Officer extended his gratitude during the address of troops remembering great dedication and enthusiastic commitments taken throughout to uplift the standard of the corps keeping Corps of Agriculture flag flying high at the all-time.
The Commanding Officer joined for All ranks lunch where he shared his thoughts with Officers and Other Ranks. Finally Commanding Officer gave his well wishes for everyone to touch the zenith of success with their Consistency and Dexterity.
After the all ranks lunch prize giving ceremony of the Cricket tournament was commenced with the the participation of the Commanding Officer and as the Corps day finale event all ranks musical event was conducted by the 3(V) SLACAL.

Troops of the Sri Lanka Army Corps of Agriculture and Livestock, formally raised on 4th January 2021 and presently 19 Army farms are handling under the direct supervision of the Directorate of Agriculture and Livestock after established Green Agriculture Steering Committee (GASC) by Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage, Commander of the Army in order to supplement and promote the island’s food security programme.Sri Lanka Army Corps of Agriculture and Livestock has already started the cultivation of all types of crops in a vast area of the island by continuing the cultivation war day by day and is taking all necessary steps to develop these activities in the future as well.
In line with above programmes as per the guidance of Major General WBSM Abeysekera RSP VSV USP the Director General Financial Management(DGFM) of the Army and Colonel Commandant of Sri Lanka Army Corps of Agriculture and Livestock with the instructions of Director Agriculture and Livestock Brigadier Arosha Rajapaksha RSP
most recently, the Sri Lanka Army Corps of Agriculture and Livestock was able to start several new army farms Pangolla,Dayagama,Ridiyagama,Manikpalama,Weeravila and Iranamadu.
With that Sri Lanka Army Corps of Agriculture and Livestock reaped the new bountiful harvest at all army farms around the country which belongs to Sri Lanka Army Corps of Agriculture and Livestock.
