In-Service Training Institute located in Gannoruwa is the National Agricultural Training Institute of Department of Agriculture. The institute is responsible for providing in service training on new information, innovations, and modern technology in agriculture to develop the skills of the staff of Extension of the Department of Agriculture and Provincial Department of Agriculture. The training courses offered by this institute are very supportive for the improvement of their performances. With the intention of up lifting Sri Lanka Army Agriculture field In Service Training Program was conducted on 22 August 2022 at In Service Training School ,Department of Agriculture, Peradeniya.20 Agriculture Officers of Sri Lanka Army Corps of Agriculture and Livestock were participated for this training session in order to enhance their agriculture knowledge. The session was conducted As per the instructions of Director General Financial Management (DGFM) of the Army and Colonel Commandant of Sri Lanka Army Corps of Agriculture & Livestock Major General WBSM Abeysekera RSP USP with the supervision of Lieutenant Colonel DLCN Muththanthirige School Commandant Corps of Agriculture and Livestock- Aralaganwila.

The Basic Agriculture course No 5A conducted by 6 SLACAL in Akkarayankulam was completed on 26 August 2022 and course duration was one month. The Commanding Officer of 6 SLACAL Lt Col ASB Hapuwinna USP psc SLAC graced the occasion as the chief guest. 56 Other Ranks successfully completed the course and received their certificates.The course curriculum included with Organic farming, crops cultivation, Food preservation, Machinery, Animal husbandry and value added animal feed products. 1st in Order of Merit :- S/109841 Cpl Rajitha Kumara NU 4 SLAC

The Commandant of School of Agriculture Lt Col DLCN Muththanthirige SLACAL graced the occasion as the chief guest. 31 Other Ranks successfully completed the course and received their certificates.The course curriculum included with Organic farming, crops cultivation, Food preservation, Machinery, Animal husbandry and value added animal feed products.This is the last course conducted at Aralaganwila before shifting School of Agriculture to the new location at Kilinochchi. 1st in Order of Merit :- S/10644 Rec Naurunna LAPD 4(V) SLACAL

As a supportive mechanism to the government’s cultivation drive Green Agriculture Steering Committee (GASC) was spearheaded by Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage, Commander of the Army in order to supplement and promote the island’s food security programme by cultivating more than 1500 acres of barren or abandoned state lands across the country. In line with above programmes as per the guidance of Major General WBSM Abeysekera RSP USP the Director General Financial Management(DGFM) of the Army and Colonel Commandant of Sri Lanka Army Corps of Agriculture and Livestock the 2(V) battalion of Sri Lanka Army Corps of Agriculture and Livestock has started Paddy cultivation in 60 acres of land at Ridiyagama on 29 August 2022. The Asian region, home to about 2/3 of the world's population, is most popular for rice farming. Rice is the main crop in Sri Lanka's subsistence agriculture as well as food crops. Paddy is cultivated in every district of Sri Lanka and Sri Lanka Army Corps of Agriculture and Livestock giving their fully contribution to expand the Paddy cultivation in Sri Lanka by adding new Army Farm at Ridiyagama which is undercommand to Sri Lanka Army Corps of Agriculture and Livestock. Commanding Officer of 2 (V) SLACAL Maj WAND Jayasundara and other ranks of 2(V) SLACAL participated for this event

Hon. Mahinda Amaraweera, M.P. Minister of Agriculture visited Army farm Kandakadu. During his visit he inspected crops cultivated by the Army perticulary maize project and chilli project on 06 August 2022.Minister was warmly welcomed by Director Agriculture and Livestock Brigadier Arosha Rajapaksha RSP and Lt Col BMTA Baddewela RSP psc IG SLA Commanding Officer 3(V) SLACAL.
