  • CERTIFICATE AWARDING CEREMONY OF ADVANCE AGRICULTURE COURSE,ADVANCE LIVESTOCK COURSE AND BEE KEEPING WORKSHOP CONDUCTED AT SCHOOL OF AGRICULTURE -KILINOCHCHI

    Certificate awarding ceremony of Advance Agriculture course, Advance Livestock course and Bee keeping workshop was held on 20th October 2022 at School of Agriculture and Livestock Kilinochchi.

    The *Commandant School of Agriculture and Livestock Lt Col DLCN Muththanthirige SLACAL* graced the occasion as the chief guest. A batch of 63 Other Ranks from various Battalions of SLACAL successfully completed the course and received their certificates.Commandant highlighted the importancy of following this courses and this is a benchmark for achieving the highest goals in Agriculture & Livestocks as well as benefited for the future career of all the Officers and ORs of the Corps during his speech.

    Course conducted duration as follows ; Advance Agriculture course - 09/16/2022- 02/10/2022 Advance Livestock course - 03/10/2022- 20/10/2022

    It has been planned to conduct Livestock Specialized course in near future in order to uplift and enhance the Agriculture and Livestock knowledge of the Officers and Other Ranks in the Corps of Agriculture and Livestock.

  • Two day Bee Keeping workshop conducted at School of Agriculture-Kilinochchi

    An awareness workshop on 'Bee keeping' was held at the School of Agriculture and Livestock - Kilinochchi on 17th October 2022 in collaboration with the Bigu Sampath Surakimu Association.

    22 students from Sri Lanka Army Corps of Agriculture and Livestock and 6 students from Sri Lanka Army Special Forces were participated for this training session in order to enhance their knowledge on Bee keeping.

    The session was conducted As per the direction of Director General Financial Management (DGFM) of the Army and Colonel Commandant of Sri Lanka Army Corps of Agriculture & Livestock Major General WBSM Abeysekera RSP USP with the supervision of Lieutenant Colonel DLCN Muththanthirige School Commandant Corps of Agriculture and Livestock- Kilinochchi.This workshop was

    organized by Directorate of Agriculture and Livestock sponsored by Department of Export Agriculture.

    Commandant School of Agriculture conducted the opening address for the two day Bee keeping workshop and the program was conducted by the officers of 'Bigu Sampath Surakimu Association' including Mr. Tissa Bandara Tambavita and Mr. Thushara Mahinda Wijesinghe

  • 73rd Army Day Anniversary Celebrated at Regiment Headquarters Sri Lanka Army Corps of Agriculture and Livestock- Karandeniya

    Sri Lanka Army, much-respected saviours of the Nation, who triumphantly eradicated the 30-year long LTTE terrorism thirteen years ago, and is now fully committed to the nation-building development tasks, is 73 years old today (10) October 2022. Parallel to the Army Day and 73rd Anniversary ceremony took place Regiment Headquarters - Karandeniya after hoisting the Army Flag. Regiment Adjutant read the Army Day message of the Commander and the event, was marked with due recognition and ceremony. Lieutenant Colonel IADS Indika RSP SLLI - SO 1 (VA) Regimental Headquarters - Karandeniya, planted a Aricanut sapling in the premises to earmarked this event and after the all ranks lunch it brings the day’s programme to a close. At the sametime 34 other ranks of the Sri Lanka Army Corps of Agriculture and Livestock were promoted to next higher rank. There were 09 Sergeants, 09 Corporals and 16 Lance Corporals to mark the Army day.The Colonel Commandant, all officers and men of SLACAL extend warm wishes for those who were got promoted. Sri Lanka Army Corps of Agriculture and Livestock regiment troops were participated for the Army Day parade.

  • CEREMONIAL FAREWELL ACCORDED TO OUTGOING COMMANDING OFFICER 2(V) SLACAL MAJOR WAND JAYASUNDARA VIR

    The Second Battalion Sri Lanka Army Corps of Agriculture and Livestock accorded a ceremonial farewell to Maj WAND Jayasundara -VIR, first Commanding Officer of 2 (V) SLACAL on 25th September 2022 at the 2(V) SLACAL headquarters in Karandeniya. The outgoing Commanding Officer being honoured with a Guard Turnout presented at the entrance and accompanied to the salute of the proud, dignified military guard of honour. Later participating for the all ranks tea party, he addressed the troops at the office building and recalled his memories while expressing deepest gratitude to the troops who supported during his tenure as the first Commanding Officer of 2 (V)Sri Lanka Army Corps of Agriculture and Livestock. He also urged them to continue their commitment in the same spirit whilst safeguarding the reputation of the organization. At the end of the event Maj WAND Jayasundara handed over his duties at his office after participating to the group photo with all ranks of 2 (V) SLACAL.Finally programme was terminated with all officers and Other Ranks were aligned on Street Lining to extend best wishes on the outgoing senior officer.

  • Regiment of SLACAL Bid Farewell to outgoing Commanding Officer -2 (V) SLACAL MAJOR WAND JAYASUNDARA

    Regiment of SLACAL Bid Farewell to outgoing Commanding Officer of 2 (V) SLACAL with the participation Major General WBSM Abeysekera RSP USP the Director General Financial Management (DGFM) of the Army and Colonel Commandant of Sri Lanka Army Corps of Agriculture and Livestock,Director Agriculture and Livestock Brigadier Arosha Rajapaksha RSP, Centre Commandant - SLACAL Brigadier Bandula Bandara RSP, Senior Officers and Officers to honour Maj WAND Jayasundara 2 (V) SLACAL on 21th September 2022. During the speech of Colonel Commandant he appreciated the tremendous service of Major WAND Jayasundara as the first Commanding Officer of the newly established Corps of Agriculture and wished him for his future success. Further Colonel Commandant presented a memento to appreciate his great service rendered to the Corps of Agriculture and Livestock and to the whole nation as well. Maj WAND Jayasundara is one of the well educated and professionally qualified major who render a remarkable service specially for the Corps of Agriculture and Livestock and assuming duties as the first Commanding Officer of the 2nd Volunteer Battalion of this newly born regiment in Sri Lanka Army Corps of Agriculture and Livestock. Further during Major WAND Jayasundara's speech he mentioned, the way Colonel Commandant ,Director Agriculture & Livestock, Centre Commandant SLACAL, all Senior Officers of SLACAL given their direction & fullest support to uplift the 2 (V) Sri Lanka Army Corps of Agriculture and Livestock regiment.

  • SRI LANKA ARMY AGRICULTURE TRAINING SCHOOL WAS RELOCATED AT - MURUKKANDI,KILINOCHCHI

    With the objective of producing technically competent human resource to achieve sustainable Agriculture and Livestock development inside the Sri Lanka Army Corps of Agriculture and Livestock agriculture training school was relocated on 15th October 2022 at Murukkandi,Kilinochchi under the guidance of the Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage, Commander of the Army to support the Green Agriculture among SLACAL and Army with the supervision of Director General Financial Management (DGFM) of the Army and Colonel Commandant of Sri Lanka Army Corps of Agriculture and Livestock Major General WBSM Abeysekera RSP USP. At the beginning of the ceremony, as the first Commandant School of Agriculture Lieutenant Colonel DLCN Muththanthirige -SLACAL was received with an elegant Guard Turnout presented by the Sri Lanka Army Corps of Agriculture Training School. As a formality, the new Commandant placed his signature on the official document, symbolizing the formal acceptance of duties amidst religious rites and rituals and received greetings from the Officers who present at the occasion. Signifying his inauguration of office, the Commandant, planted a sapling of a Mango tree in the camp premises. This followed a troop address and an all-rank tea with the participation of Officers and Other Ranks.During the troop address Commandant stated that to provide a formal Agricultural Technical Knowledges by liason with government non-government officers to improve the training students Skills, and talent and attitudes regard positive Agricultural Development to provide training workshop awareness programme and field demonstration through that fully contributes to national development by Agriculture in Sri lanka Army Corps of Agriculture and Livestock.

  • Export Revenue to Motherland from Defenders of the Nation

    After establishing Green Agriculture Steering Committee (GASC) by Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage, Commander of the Army in order to bring more foreign exchange into the country through the export of agricultural crops, the Sri Lanka Army Corps of Agriculture and Livestock has already started several large projects across the country with the combination of civil sector. A 25 acres *Gerkin Cultivation Project* was collobaratively started with HJS Condiments managed under *Haleys Company (pvt) ltd* at *Army Farm Kandakadu* on 06 August 2022 *with the directions of the Director General Financial Management (DGFM) of the Army and Colonel Commandant of Sri Lanka Army Corps of Agriculture and Livestock Major General WBSM Abeysekera RSP USP and the Brigadier Arosha Rajapaksha RSP Director Agriculture & Live Stocks* Total harvest of 200 MT is expected from this project, which expands over an area of 25 acres. All 200 MT harvest will be exported to 49 foreign countries via *HJS Condiments.* Thereby, the Defenders of the Nation from *Corp of Agriculture and Live Stocks* contributes to bring much needed *Dollars* to the Motherland. As the first harvest of this project, bulk of 686 Kg was handed over to Haleys Company (pvt) ltd by the *Commanding Officer - 3 (V) SLACAL.* Harvesthng (from four stages of cultivation ) to be continued till 5th November 2022.
