Members of the Sri Lanka Army Corps of Agriculture and Livestock Seva Vanitha branch visited the Umandawa Maha Vihara Ashram on 18th November 2021. The event was graced by the President Seva Vanitha Branch of Sri Lanka Army Corps of Agriculture and Livestock Mrs. Shanthi Abeysekera and spouses of Officers and Other Ranks. A presentation on functions of Umandawa Maha Viharaya as well as organic vegetable cultivation is outlined.

The Second Basic Agriculture course was started today at Agriculture Training School -Aralaganwila. Four newly commissioned Officers and 49 ORs were participated for the course. Lt Col DLCN Muththanthirige the Commanding Officer 3 (V) SLACAL graced the event and conducted the opening address for the course at the School of Agriculture - Aralaganwila.

The "First Basic Agriculture Course No - 1 at the School of Agriculture in Aralaganwila was completed on 13 November 2021. Colonel Commandant of Sri Lanka Army Corps of Agriculture & Livestock Major General WBSM Abeysekera RSP USP graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. A batch of 50 Other Ranks from various Battalions of Sri Lanka Army Corps of Agriculture and Livestock who completed the course received their certificates from the Chief Guest and Col Comdt highlighted the importancy of following this courses and this a benchmark for achieving the highest goals in Agriculture & Livestocks during his speech.

Advance Agriculture Course (Crop Science) with the participation of 1 X 20 was started on 24 Nov 2021at Aralaganwila Agricultural Training School. This course will conduct from 24 Nov to 12 Dec 2021( Two weeks) with the objective of further expanding the Agricultural knowledge of the Officers and Other ranks of the Regiment of Agriculture and Livestock. Senior Instructor (SI) Maj DMSU Bandara conducted the opening address for the course at School of Agriculture Aralaganwila.This course will also be conducted on the principles of agronomy related to vegetable cultivation, fruit cultivation, field crops, export crops, plantation crops, paddy cultivation, etc.

Basic Agriculture course for Other Ranks was started toady at Agriculture Training School -Aralaganwila and 50 Other Ranks were participated for the inaugural course. Lt Col DLCN Muththanthirige Commanding Officer 3 (V) SLACAL graced the event and conducted the opening address for the course at the School of Agriculture - Aralaganwila.

Director General Financial Management (DGFM) of the Army and the first Colonel Commandant of Sri Lanka Army Corps of Agriculture & Livestock Major General WBSM Abesekera RWP RSP has paid his initial visit to 4th (V) Regiment Sri Lanka Army Corps of Agriculture & Livestock under command Army farms Balalla, Niraviya, Adiyapuliyankulam and Manicfarm. Further, he visited the ongoing renovation work at 1 SLACAL Mahawa construction site on 19th & 20th August 2021 together with Director Agriculture & Livestock Brigadier AK Rajapaksa RSP.The Colonel Commandant was welcomed by the Commanding Officer Maj ASD Pathirana. After that Col Commandant visits 3 (V) SLACAL under command farms Kandakadu,Galkanda and Agriculture Training Centre Aralaganvila on 21 & 22 August 2021. During the visits, Col Comdt inspected all farms and accommodation area and appreciated all ranks for the effort made by them to maintain the farms in a good standard.

Under the vision of Comd of the Army to develop agriculture within the Army and to assist nation’s ongoingNational Agriculture Campaign another mile stone was created by establishing its newest wing,with the First Regular Battalion, 1SLACAL with the guidance of its first Col Commandant and the Director A & L on 01 Sep 2021 at a 38 acre land at Mahawa. Event restricted to present pandemic situation with religious ceremony to invoke blessings for youngest Regular Bn of the Sri Lanka Army.Maj DMHC Karunathilake taken over duties as the first Second in Command of the battalion with the blessings of Maha Sangaratnaya.
