DEFENSE SECRETARY PAID THE LAST RESPECT TO THE LATE CHIEF INCUMBENT OF BUDDHANGALA RAJA MAHA VIHARAYA, MOST VEN KALUTHARA DHAMMANANDHA ON 9TH APRIL 2014

Secretary to the Ministry of Defence and Urban Development Mr. Gotabaya Rajapaksa paid last respects to late Most Ven. Kalutara Sri Dhammanandabidhana Nayaka Thero at Daham Medura Viharaya in Buddangala, Ampara on 09th Apri 2014. Major General Lal Perera, Commander Security Forces (East) along with Several Military and civil Dignitaries were accompanied with the Defense Secretary.

2ND SRI LANKA CORPS OF MILITARY POLICE CONDUCT A SERIES OF LECTURES ON THE SUBJECTS OF PREVENTION OF CHILD ABUSE AND RAPES FOR THE CIVIL SOCIETY FOR STUDENTS AND PARENTS WELIKANDA MAHA VIDYALAYA ON 08TH APRIL 2014

As per instructions given by Commander of the Army and with the direction of Commander Security Force (East), 2nd Sri Lanka Corps of Military Police conduct a series of lectures on the Subjects of prevention of Child Abuse and rapes for the Civil Society in the AOR. One of lecture conducted for Students and Parents of Welikanda Maha Vidyalaya on 08th April 2014 more than 200 Students and Parents were participated for the lecture.

A Function was held at the Security Forces Headquarters (East) to foster the Sinhala and Tamil New Year at the auspicious time on 14 April 2014 Commander Security Forces (East) Maj Gen SAAL Perera RWP RSP USP ndu IG Participated in the event Where all Ranks of the Headquarters were present The traditional oil lamp was lit by the Commander in keeping with traditional custom an invited all to enjoy the $Aurudu$ Sweetmeats that included milk rice and kevum He mingled with those present and wished them well during the year to come.

SECURITY FORCE HEADQUARTERS (EAST) CONDUCTED A MEETING WITH LEADERS OF ULAMASABHA AND MUSLIM INTELLECTUALS IN EASTERN PROVINCE

Just after the new year, with an aim to buildup confidence and the goodwill among the Muslim community and the Army in the eastern theater at Security Forces Headquarters (East) Welikanda on 17th April 2014 had a meeting with leaders of ULAMA SABHA and Muslim intellectuals in the Eastern province. They have expressed their views and security related matters with the Major General SAAL Perera RWP RSP USP ndc IG the commander Security Forces (East) and his staff. The commander hosted a launch for all participants.

11th Sri Lanka Artillery, 8 th Sri Lanka National Guard under 232 Brigade of 23 Division in Security Forces (East) Celebrate Sinhala Hindu New Year festival in a grand scale at In front of 232 Brigade in Tharavikulam on 12th April 2014 Several traditional games were organized at the festival with Many colorful events A giant Musical Show sum up the New Year Celebration, Commander 232 Brigade along with the Staff of 232 Brigade were present at the festival.

242 BRIGADECELEBRATED SINHALA AND HINDU NEW YEAR FESTIVAL IN A GRAND SCALE

242 Brigade under24 Division locatedin Panama under Security Forces (East) area, celebrated Sinhala and Hindu New Year Festival in a grand scale at Komari play ground in Pothuvil on 18th April 2014 with the participation of GOC 24 Division Brig HKP PierisUSP, several military and civil dignitaries .The incumbent of MuhuduMahaVihara with other monks and about 1000 civilians were participated for the occasion. At the festival 18 sports events including traditional games were held and the prizes for winners were given by the Officers and ORs of 242 Div. and other donors.

SECURITY FORCES EAST CONDUCTED A COMPUTER COURSE FOR OFFICERS AND OTHER RANKERS IN SFHQ(E) AOR

The Opening Address of the Basic Computer Course - No 01(2014) conducted by the Security Forces Headquarters (East) was held at Security Forces Lecture Hall on 21st April 2014 with the direction of commander Security Forces East Maj Gen SAAL Perera RWP RSP USP ndu IG. The Opening Address delivered by Brig KLAS Wijesinghe RWP RSP psc IG, Brigadier General Staff - SFHQ (E). This Computer course will consists with 04 courses and each course will be contained with 40 students. The course will be conducted by The ORIENT ACADAMY (PVT) LTD, one of a leading computer training institute in Sri Lanka.
