  • 233 BRIGADE GIVES ASSISTANCE TO 'PADA YAATHRA'

    In view of fostering religious harmony in the Eastern Province, troops of 233 Brigade facilitated the devotees who attended the annual foot pilgrimage, 'Paada Yathra' to Vrugal Kovil on 17 September 2019. With the guidance of Colonel Rajith Elvitigala, Commander 233 Brigade, the troops extended their fullest support to devotees by providing drinking water, tea and biscuits.

  • ARUGAM BAY HALF MARATHON “RISE UP SRI LANKA”

    Development forum of Arugambay organized a Half Marathon at Arugambay with the assistance of 242 Brigade. The theme of this year was "Rise up Sri Lanka”. Huge numbers of local and foreign competitors have participated. Massive crowd gathered to Arugambay to witness this annual event. 242 Brigade troops have given the fullest support to make the event colorful.

  • ARMY JOINS TO CLEAN UP COASTAL BELT

    Troops serving in 241 Brigade under the Security Force Headquarters (East) launched a coastal belt cleaning project on Wednesday (07) at Sinnamuhuduwaran costal area Akkaraipattu which was highly polluted due to the discarded wrappers, empty beer cans and heaps of polythene.

  • A/L STUDENTS IN VAKAREI ATTEND ARMY - INITIATED SEMINAR PROJECT

    With the objective of assisting students in Vakarei Area who are expected to appear for the forthcoming G.C.E A/L exam 2019 in August, Commander 233 Brigade Colonel Rajith Elvitigala initiated and organized a two day seminar at the main hall of Vakarei Central Collage on 27 and 28 July 2019.

  • GOC - 22 DIVISION OPENED NEW PRIVATE MESS AT THE HEADQUARTERS OF 224 BDE

    The newly constructed Private's Mess of the Headquarters 224 Brigade, Muthur was declared opened at auspicious time by Major General Neville Weerasingha GOC - 22 Division during a simple ceremony on 19 Wednesday.

  • 10 GAJABA TROOPS ORGANIZE A DANSEL ON THE POSON POYA DAY

    In view of enhancing the existing good image about the military among general public in Batticaloa and to mark the Poson Poya day, all ranks of the 10th Battalion the Gajaba Regiment organized a“Rice Dansel” at Bar Road (Close to Batticaloa Railway station) on 16 June 2019 under the direction of its Commanding Officer Lieutenant Colonel Ruwan Ehelepola USP USACGSC. Colonel General Staff - 23 Division and acting Comd of 231 Brigade Colonel Wasantha Bandara graced the occasion and declared the “Dansel” open to the public. The civilian response to this noble event was very high and approximately 2,000 civilians came to the “Dansel”. Further, all officers, other ranks and civil staff of the Battalion immensely contributed to make this event a success. Note : Photos attached.
