  • A DONATION OF SCHOOL ITEMS AT KUMUDUPURA PRIMARY SCHOOL

    A donation of school items sponsored by (Rtd) Major Aruna Perera and his team was successfully held at Kumudupura Primary School, Medirigiriya on Friday (30) under the coordination of Security Force Headquarters (East). This was an initiative aimed at supporting education of our dear sons and daughters of less privileged schools and it was conducted in line with the series of community-oriented welfare programmes organized by the Sri Lanka Army.

  • 22 DIVISION TROOPS FACILITATED G.C.E.(O/L) SEMINAR

    A Seminar on Mathematics was organized by the 221 Brigade in Trincomalee for the students who are to be sit for the GCE (O/L) examination – 2018. It was held at the auditorium of Sinhala Maha Vidyalaya Trincomalee on (13) Thursday. The aim of this seminar was to raise the standards of the students and to prepare them well for the forthcoming exam.

  • NEW ACCOMMODATION BUILDING OPENS FOR 241 BRIGADE TROOPS

    The newly constructed accommodation building (සයුරුඉම) of 241 Brigade at Akkaraipattu was declared open on 12 October 2018 to mark the 69th anniversary of the Sri Lanka Army.

  • 5(V) SLAWC GIRLS JOIN THE "RAID AMAZONES - 2018"

    The Raid Amazones - 2018, the 18th edition of the world’s biggest adventure challenge for ladies which is now underway in the East coast of Sri Lanka in and around Passikuda, Thoppigala and Kalkudah areas whilst enjoying the beautiful environment and enthralling culture of our country. This multi-sport adventure event that consists of cycling, canoeing and running, was conducted from 11 to 18 October testing the skill, determination and teamwork of the contestants.

  • TAMIL CIVILIANS JOINED THE TROOPS OF BATTICALOA FOR BLOOD DONATION ON ARMY DAY

    To coincide with the 69th Army Day & Anniversary, the troops of 231 Brigade launched a Blood Donation Campaign at the Headquarters, 231 Brigade Kallady, Batticaloa today (10), under the guidance and supervision of the Commander 231 Brigade, Brigadier Senarath Niwunhella who endorsed this project considering its importance in life saving.

  • CUCUMBER HARVEST PAYMENTS DISTRIBUTION PROGRAMME 2018

    In order to uplift the living standard of the people of Vakarai, 233 Bde initiated a Cucumber Cultivation Project with the assistance of Hayleys Agriculture PLC. The project incorporated 49 low income families in Palachchenei area.

  • TROOPS OF 24 DIVISION LISTENED A SERIES OF TIMELY VALUABLE LECTURES

    On the directions of Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Mahesh Senanayake, a workshop was conducted with a series of lectures under the theme of “Future plans of the Army by exploring the present context” at the headquarter premises 24 Division on 19 Sep 18 to boost the efficiency of soldiers and smooth functioning of their role. The lectures were conducted by well known resource personnel on the topics of “Role of Army soldiers to establish national reconciliation and development, Role of Army to mitigate death toll in accident and suicide since it is higher than in the war period, Role of Army personnel to prevent drugs addiction since more no of cases reported in connection with drugs dealers”.

  • BEACH FRONT CLEANING PROGRAMME

    With the intention preventing beach pollution, the troops of 11 Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment (Volunteer) conducted a beach front cleaning programme on 18 and 20 September at Kaludawaeli beach. The civilians also joined the troops for this righteous attempt.

  • 224 BRIGADE CELEBRATES SEVENTH ANNIVERSARY

    224 Brigade celebrated its seventh anniversary at the Brigade Headquarters premises on 25 (Saturday). The day’s proceedings commenced with the Commander 224 Brigade Colonel EAP Ediriweera being received the salute of Guard Turnout presented by the troops of 15 SLLI in accordance with military formalities. Subsequently, the Commander 224 Brigade addressed the troops and requested them to commit to diverse projects, being carried out by the Army to strengthen the harmony and reconciliation among all ethnic groups in the area.

  • THE TROOPS OF 222 BRIGADE BUILD A HOUSE FOR A NEEDY FAMILY

    The troops of 22 Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment, under command to 222 Brigade, built a new house for a low - income family in Verugal Trincomalee with the financial support of Mr. Sarath Yahampath. The new house recipient, Mrs. Devanayagi lived in a tin sheets hut with her four children since her husband had left the family some time back. She did not have a permanent source of income.
