231 Brigade coordinated a donation for the children of under privileged families in Batticaloa district under the auspices of Shanthi Foundation of Dehiwala on Tuesday (12). During the programme, school accessories were distributed among 450 students and 20 bicycles among low income families.

The first Exercise Master Logger which is now being underway at the Security Force Headquarters (East), successfully completes its third day providing array of opportunities for Staff Officers and Other Ranks belonging to Administrative and Logistics branches of under command formations of the Security Forces (East) to enhance professional competencies on Logistics procedures practiced in the Army. This exercise is conducted by the Security Force Headquarters (East) in partnership with Army School of Logistics.

In line with the 28th Anniversary of 233 Brigade, Vakarai, a Blood Donation Campaign was organized on Wednesday (27) with the guidance of the Commander, 233 Brigade, Colonel R Elvitigala USP. The event was conducted with the assistance of the staff of Polonnaruwa General Hospital. 125 Officers and solders of the Headquarters and under command battalions donated their blood for this worthy cause.

A series of events were organized in conjunction with 28 anniversary of the 233 Brigade –Vakarei giving priority for religious activities from 27 Feb 2019 to 03 Mar 2019. All night Pirith Chanting was held on Thursday (28) and followed by the Alms Giving with the attendance of Commander Security Force (East) Major General KPA Jayasekara WWV RSP USP ndc psc and several other Senior Officers. Further, a Kovil Pooja was held at Pullayaar Kovil Vakarei, Christian Mass and Service at St. Michel Church Vakarei and Muslim religious activity took place at Mohideen Jumna Mosque Oddamawadi to invoke blessings for those who sacrificed their lives while serving under 233 Brigade.

Commemorating the 28th anniversary, 233 Brigade, Vakarei conducted another Community Targeted Welfare Assistance Programme under the guidance and supervision of Brigade Commander, Colonel R Elvitigala USP on 26 Feb 2019. Accordingly, selected 35 under privileged families of the remote village of Tikkana were donated with the commodities packs each worth of nearly Rs.2000.00 Further, a special lunch was organized for residential patients and to the hospital staff of Vakarei Hospital.

Troops of 233 Brigade of the 23 Division under the Security Force Headquarters – East conducted a donation programme for under-privileged families at Kadiraweli Vigneshwara College on Saturday (16) with the sponsorship, provided by “Royal Enfield Riders Club”.This community-oriented empowering programme was an initiative aimed at encouraging education of of under-privileged children and supporting the livelihoods of poor families.
