17 SRI LANKA NATIONAL GUARD DISTRIBUTES COCONUT TREES FOR LOW-INCOME TAMIL FAMILIES

Concept of the Commander, Security Forces (East), Major General Sujeewa Hettiarachchi, giving a further boost to Civil-Military Co-operation projects in the Eastern Province, and guidance of the General Officer Commanding, 22 Infantry Division, Major General Saliya Amunugama, supervision of Brigade Commander, 221 Infantry Brigade, Colonel Sujeewa Rathnayake, Commanding Officer, 17 Sri Lanka National Guard, Major Layanal Hemakumara has organized coconut plants donation programme to the much needy Tamil families at Navachcholai –Kumburupiddi area on Wednesday (01 March).

Commanding Officer, 17 Sri Lanka National Guard coordinate the coconut plants from Kuchchaweli Govi Jana Sewa Centre, and 250 coconut plants have been distributed among the 50 families of the area during the donation programme.

Colonel Sujeewa Rathnayake, Brigade Commander, 221 Infantry Brigade, grace the occasion as a chief guest and Lieutenant Colonel Kamal Jayaweera, Civil Affairs Officer, 221 Infantry Brigade, Major Layanal Hemakumara, Commanding Officer, 17 Sri Lanka National Guard, Officers and other ranks of 17 Sri Lanka National Guard have participated in the donation programme.
