  • A DONATION OF SCHOOL ACCESSORIES, SEWING MACHINES AND KITCHEN EQUIPMENT FOR NEEDY FAMILIES

    With the guidance of General Officer Commanding 23 Division Major General Dhammika Jayasundara, a donation of school accessories, sewing machines and kitchen equipment among school children and women of poverty-stricken families was taken place at Kurinchamunai Government Tamil Mixed School, on 22 January 2020. 4 Battalion of the Gemunu Watch organized this event in collaboration with Shanthi Community Animation Movement (SCAM).

    With a concept of General Officer Commanding 23 Division and under the patronage of Hemas Holdings PLC, a donation of school accessories and gift packs to 183 children was conducted at the Zion Church Batticaloa on 30 Dec 19.

  • DISTRIBUTION OF SCHOOL ITEMS

    222 Brigade and 22nd Battalion of Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment (22 VIR) deployed in 22 Division AOR, organized an event to distribute school equipment for 184 students of under privileged families studying at Dehiwatta Maha Vidyalaya Dehiwatta in coordination with “Future Life Investments Limited” on 21 December 2019. This charity programme was conducted under the auspices of the Manager of Future Life Investments Ltd Mr. Danushka Udugama and staff of the institute.

  • 2 (V) GR TROOPS CONTRIBUTE TO COASTAL BELT CLEAN-UP

    Troops of the 2nd Battalion of the Gajaba Regiment under 221 Brigade of the 22 Division under the Security Force Headquarters – East took part in a programme to clean up the coastal belt at Maniyaveli" Trincomalee on 15 December 2019.

  • RE-CONSTRUCTION OF FLOOD DEFENCE BANK AT ULLA

    Under the supervision of SF HQ(E) & 24 Division, 23rd Battalion of Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment in cooperation with Disaster Management Centre, Irrigation Department, other voluntary organizations and civilians re-constructed eroded canal bank at Naval Aru in general area Ulla using sand bags to prevent destruction of the bank. As torrential rains continued, the whole region was threatened with a devastating flood unless the river bank was fortified. The whole operation was brought to completion on late evening on 10 December 2019.

  • 22 DIVISION TROOPS INVOLVE IN CLEAN-UP PROJECTS

    Under the CIMIC programmes of 22 Division, troops of 2nd (V) Battalion of the Gajaba Regiment under 221 Brigade took part in two separate programmes to clean the temple premises of Sri Bodhipadaparamaya, Gemunupura" China Bay, Trincomalee on 22 November and the coastal belt of Maniyavel, Trincomalee on 29 November.

  • 233 BRIGADE GIVES ASSISTANCE TO 'PADA YAATHRA'

    In view of fostering religious harmony in the Eastern Province, troops of 233 Brigade facilitated the devotees who attended the annual foot pilgrimage, 'Paada Yathra' to Vrugal Kovil on 17 September 2019. With the guidance of Colonel Rajith Elvitigala, Commander 233 Brigade, the troops extended their fullest support to devotees by providing drinking water, tea and biscuits.
