A community based awareness programme on COVID 19 was underway in Kattankudy Town on (Friday) 07 to enlighten the public on symptoms, prevention and precautionary measures relating to the pandemic. The session was conducted by the troops of 11 (V) SLSR in liaison with Kattankudy Police Station under the direction of Major General NalinKoswatte the General Officer Commanding 23 Infantry Division and with the supervision of Colonel Vijitha Hettiarachchi the Commander 231 Infantry Brigade.

With the COVID 19 cases surging in many parts of the country, health officials are scrambling to find beds to accommodate the large number of patients who test positive on daily basis. Considering this urgent need, another Intermediate Care Centre (ICC) was opened at the Youth Centre Kanthale as directed by the Commander Security Force (East) Major General Channa Weerasuriya and the General Officer Commanding of 22 Infantry Division Major General Samantha Silva.
