The 9 Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment (VIR) marked its 17th anniversary with a series of programmes on 17 July 2024 under the guidance of Major C.D.P Jayathilaka RWP RSP, Commanding Officer, 9 VIR, at the 9 VIR Headquarters premises.
The anniversary celebrations commenced with a Guard Turnout presented by VIR troops, saluting the Commanding Officer. Following this, the Commanding Officer planted a mango sapling and the newly constructed guard room of the unit was inaugurated.
Coinciding with the anniversary, a blood donation program was organized on 05 July 2024 with the participation of all Ranks of the unit. Additionally, a religious programme was organized by the troops at the Seruwila Mangala Rajamaha Viharaya to invoke blessings to the Battalion and War Heroes who sacrificed their lives for the nation. Senior Officers, Officers, and Other Ranks of 9 VIR attended this event.
