    Lieutenant General NUMMW Senanayake RWP RSP USP psc, the Commander of the Army at the invitation of the Colonel Commandant Major General S Ranasinghe RWP RSP ndu psc declared open the newly constructed Convention Centre amidst the religious formalities for the Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers on 11 November 2017. Commander of the Army had an inspection visit along with senior Sapper Officers after opening the Convention Centre.

    The 66 Anniversary of Crops of Sri Lanka Engineers held at RHQ SLE on 09 November 2017, showcasing glamour and pride in a grand scale. The anniversary day celebrations included Guard turn out and ceremonial parade for the Colonel Commandant, Regimental Council Meeting and All Rank lunch.

  • MAJOR GENERAL PMR BANDARA WWV USP NDU PSC, ACCORDED WITH A GUARD OF HONOUR AND A DINNER NIGHT ON HIS RETIREMENT

    Sappers family bid farewell to Maj Gen PMR Bandara WWV USP ndu psc upon completion of 32 year of his illustrious military career in the Army on 10 November 2017 at the Headquarters Corps of Engineers Panagoda. The farewell ceremonies included Guard Turnout, Floral Tribute to Fallen war Heros, Guard of Honour and a Formal Dinner Night.

  • ERECTION OF NEW OFFICERS LIVING QUARTER BEGINS

    As a concept of the Colonel Commandant of Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers, plans underway to erect a new officers living quarter for Officers of the Corps at the Officers Mess Regimental Centre, in order to uplift the living standards of Officers.

    The Colonel Commandant and Commander Security Forces (West) Maj Gen S Ranasinghe RWP RSP ndu psc attended the function as the Chief Guest. Initial setting out and ground breaking was done on 09 November 2017 at the auspicious time by the Deputy Centre Commandant Col AHLG Amarapala RWP RSP psc. Later the Chief Guest together with senior officers, officers and Other Ranks laid the foundation stone amidst chanting seth pirith by the venerable maha sanga.

  • SAPPER OFFICERS ANNUAL CRICKET ENCOUNTER 2017

    The Sapper Officers Annual Cricket Encounter took place for the consecutive third time on 13 November 2017 at the Sappers Cricket Stadium Maththegoda. The event organized by the 16 Workshop Regiment under the supervision of the Commanding Officer Lt Col KASJ Kodithuwakku SLE. Colonel Commandant and the Commander Security Forces (West) Maj Gen S Ranasinghe RWP RSP ndu psc graced the thrilling event as the Chief Guest together with the participation of Senior Sapper Officers, Officers and Other Ranks.

    The T20 match held between two teams the Greens and the Maroons. Greens won the toss and put maroons into bat and Maroons set a target of 113 for loss of six wickets. Greens emerged as the champions reaching a comprehensive win during the 3rd ball of the 20th over subsequent to a close battle. The team Green led by Maj Gen GDI Karunarathne RSP psc and the Maroons by Brig TJ Nanayakkara RSP USP ndu. The two teams were represented by the champion players of the Corps. The two teams are as follows:

    In the aftermath of the three decade long terrorist conflict, Sri Lanka is well into the path of recovery. The military that was instrumental in delivering the decisive blow to defeat insurgency adapted well to the post conflict demands. The operating environment of the military will be further compounded by the effects of climate and the rise in natural and other calamities. These will translate into threats such as accidental and deliberate toxic chemical or biological release, radiation due to accidents in the medical, industrial and agricultural fields, nuclear accidents in plants in close proximity to the Island and the ensuing contamination of land, buildings and equipment.
