The award ceremony for 42 Sappers who successfully completed the National Vocational Qualification - Level 3 and 4 (NVQ-Level 3,4) was conducted at the Lt Gen Angammana memorial Hall on 09 November 2018 to coincide with the 67th Anniversary. The Chief Guest of the event was the Colonel Commandant and several Senior Officers participated for this ceremony. The Certificates were awarded to Sappers who had successfully completed the evaluations conducted by Technical College, Ratmalana. Tradesman from the fields of masonry (Construction Craftsmanship), Carpentry (Building Construction), aluminum work and Welding received certificates.

The Annual Friendly Sappers Cricket Encounter took place for the fourth consecutive year on 27 October 2018 at the Sappers Cricket Stadium Maththegoda. The event was organized by the 16 Workshop Regiment under the supervision of the Commanding Officer Lt Col KASJ Kodithuwakku SLE. Maj Gen(Retd) GDI Karunaratne RSP psc graced the thrilling event as the Chief Guest together with the participation of several Senior Sapper Officers, Officers and Other Ranks.

The Sapper family bid farewell to Major General G D I Karunarathne RSP psc on 26 October 2018. Major General G D I Karunarathne RSP psc retired on completion of 35 years in the Army and he was accorded with full military honours at the Headquarters Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers, Panagoda.

The Sappers 4X4 Gympo 2018 Off - Road challenge conducted by the Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers in association with the Four Wheel Drive Club (FWDC) and the Sri Lanka Motor Cycle Riders Association was worked off for the eighth successive year on 02nd September 2018 at the Sapper Off Road Arena, Embilipitiya.

A farewell for retiring Major General Mervin Perera was held on 28 August 2018 at the Corps Headquarters. A large gathering of Senior Officers, Officers, and Other Ranks attended on the event. Major General Merving Perera enlisted to the Army on 14 June 1895, as an Officer Cadet to the Intake SSC 5 and rendered his service to the Sri Lanka Army for a period of 33 Years. During his illustrious military career he held number of key appointments in Sri Lanka Army including Commanding Officer for three Units, Military observer, Commander 612, 524 Brigade, Brigadier (Doctrine development) ARTRAC, General Officer Commanding 51 Division, Director General of Overseas Operations.

Gympo Musical extravaganza, the entertainment Evening organized by Sri Lanka School of Military Engineering was held with a presence of a large gathering at Sri Lanka School of Military Engineering Ground, Embilipitiya on 24 August 2018.Flag off ceremony of Gympo 2018 was also held prior to commencement of the music extravaganza where all the 4x4 and motor riders participated. Number of renowned singers colored the night alone with the music from All Right Band. Major General G D I Karunaratne RSP psc graced the occasion as the chief guest with many Senior Officers and Officers of the Corps.

Seva Vanitha Branch Corps of Engineers organized a programme to award 100 scholarships for the children of deceased and differently abled war heroes families. The scholarship awarding ceremony was held at Corps Headquarters on 14 August 2018 and Lieutenant General N U M M W Senanayake RWP RSP VSV USP USACGSC the Commander of the Army and Mrs Chandrika Senanayake the President of Army Seva Vanitha Unit graced the occasion as Chief Guests.

Members of the Seva Vanitha Branch Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers visited the inmates at Abimansala Suvasahana Nikethanaya, Kamburupitiya on 28 July 2018. The members looked over the wellness of the dependent war heroes and presented gift vouchers. During the visit, inmates were provided with a delicious lunch and they enjoyed the musical session organized by Seva Vanitha Branch. Mrs. Ajantha Hettiarachchi, the president of Seva Vanitha Branch Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers and members graced the occasion.
