  • MOBILE AGRI SHOP LAUNCHED AT ARMY HEADQUARTER PREMISES

    With the aim of further increasing the agricultural economy in our country, in order to increase food security a large number of projects were started. Accordingly, at the invitation of Major General WBSM Abeysekara RSP USP, Colonel Commandant of Sri Lanka Army Corps of Agriculture and Livestock, Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage, Commander of the Army, graced the inaugural occasion as the Chief Guest and opened the Mobile Agri Shop by cutting the ribbon on 11th October 2022 in front of the Sri Lanka Army Headquarters car park premises.Mainly with the aim of providing Vegitables and Diary products for the army members at a reasonable price from the farms spread across the island under the Corps of Agriculture and Livestock. To be in line with the 73rd Army Anniversary, the mobile agri shop, parked near the vehicle park at the Army HQ at Pelawatte, Battaramulla will continue to remain open on every Tuesday and Friday from 3.00 pm to 6.00 pm.   • Commander Joins Reaping Ceremony of Golden Harvest of Sri Lanka Army Corps of Agriculture and Livestock at Near Army HQ

    The auspicious harvesting of paddy, sown in a stretch of 12 acres of fields near the Sri Jayawardenepura Army Headquarters occurred on 16th September 2022 during a ceremony, where the Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage, graced as the Chief Guest for the ‘Ran Aswanu Neleeme Mangallaya’. The Army Headquarters several months ago under the Army-initiated ‘Thuru Mithuru-Nawa Ratak’ crop cultivation drive ploughed those unattended fields and marshy lands before they were converted to be suitable for paddy cultivation during the past ‘Maha’ season. The day’s ‘Ran Aswanu Neleeme Mangallaya’ the harvesting arrangement began with traditional religious rites and rituals before a set of soldiers who sowed seed paddy several months ago stepped in the fields, carrying sickles along with the day’s Chief Guest, Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage. The entire project, carried out with the active participation of troops of the Sri Lanka Army Corps of Agriculture and Livestock (SLACAL) with the close supervision of Director General Financial Management (DGFM) of the Army and Colonel Commandant of Sri Lanka Army Corps of Agriculture and Livestock Major General WBSM Abeysekera RSP USP on the guidelines given by Director Agriculture and Livestock Brigadier Arosha Rajapaksha RSP of the Directorate of Agriculture and Livestock and its respective Commanding Officer 2(V) SLACAL Major WAND Jayasundara VIR.

  • BRIGADIER PRBA BANDARA RSP ASSUMED DUTIES AS CENTRE COMMANDANT SLACAL

    Brigadier Bandula Bandara RSP assumed office as the 3rd Centre Commandant of the newly established Corps of Agriculture and Livestock Regimental Centre on Friday 19 August 2022. As the first segment of the military formalities, the Centre Commandant was greeted with a guard of honour at the main entrance to the HQ 2 (V) SLACAL. Afterwhile, the Centre Commandant put his signature on an official document amidst religious blessings signifying the acceptance of new office as the Centre Commandant.Mango sapling (Mangifera indica) was planted by the Centre Commandant to mark this event. Thereafter he posed for a photograph with all staff officers who were present in the office in order to mark this significant occasion. Later, Centre Commandant addressed all ranks and emphasised the value of Corps of Agriculture and Livestock , fully operational for the express goal of elevating the country's agricultural sector to new heights and cater for the nation building task during an economic crisis in the country. Same time Centre Commandant specially pointed out that this regiment can be directed to get the most efficient and effective service by building a good environment and surroundings in the place where we are perform our duties.

    As a concept of the president of Corps of Agriculture and Livestock Seva Vanitha Branch, Mrs. Shanthi Abeysekera , a dry ration packs distribution Programme for the Lila Withana elderly home , was organized by the Corps of Agriculture Seva Vanitha Branch on 14 June 2022 at Lila Withana elderly home Warapalana,Yakkala prior to mark the Poson festival Year 2022. The event was organized, under the guidance of the Director General Financial Management (DGFM) of the Army and the Colonel Commandant of Sri Lanka Army Corps of Agriculture & Livestock Major General WBSM Abeysekera RSP USP . This noble event was sponsored by all battalions of Sri Lanka Army Corps of Agriculture and Livestock with the coordination of RHQ SLACAL.
