The Commander of Sri Lanka Army Lieutenant General HLVM Liyanage RWP RSP ndu has visited Army Farm Kandakdu & Galkanda on 31 March 2023 in order to uplift and elevate the Agricultural sector in Sri Lanka with Sri Lanka Army Corps of Agriculture and Livestock.
During the visit Commander of the Army inspected Layer farm Galkanda, MRE factory, Milk Project and Other farming area.He also addressed officers and troops and expressed his gratitude to all Agrarians for their exceptional service rendered by SLACAL to uplift nation economy.
Thus the Prize Awarding Ceremony of the Farm Competition was held at 3(V) SLACAL.The Commander of the Sri Lanka Army was graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.The Colonel Commandant of the SLACAL was warmly welcomed the chief guest to the prize awarding ceremony.The Senior Officers of SLACAL, Commanding Officers representing all battalions and NCO’s of SLACAL were participated for the ceremony. The results of the Farm Competition 2023 as follows.
1st Place - Army farm Adiyapuliyankulam
2nd Place - Menikfarm
3rd Place - Army farm Galkanda
Best emerging Farm - Army farm Kandakadu
Best Farm OC- Capt WAVP Wijalath

Sri Lanka Army Corps of Agriculture & Livestock,the youngest Regiment of the Sri lanka Army assist to the Sri Lanka's economy in order to supplement and promote the island's food security programme by cultivating many crops across the counrty and to Empower, the Farming.The island wide Army farms which are belongs to Sri Lanka Army Corps of Agriculture and Livestock are currently engaged in collecting the Maha Season paddy harvest and seasonal crops.

The newly constructed office complex of the Directorate of Agriculture & Livestock was ceremonially opened by the Commander of the Sri Lanka Army Lieutenant General HLVM Liyanage RWP RPS ndu on 14 March 2023.The Commander of the Army was welcomed by the Director General Financial Management & Colonel Commandant of the Sri Lanka Army Corps of Agriculture & Livestock Major General WBSM Abeysekera RSP VSV USP and the Director of Agriculture and Livestock Brigadier AK Rajapaksa RSP.The religious activities was conducted in line with the opening ceremony. The Deputy Chief of Staff and other senior officers also attended for this occasion.The planning and operation of agriculture and livestock projects are executed by the Directorate of Agriculture and Livestock and currently 19 x Military farms are supporting to keep countrys economy fruitful manner.

" Distribution of Goats for low income families " was organized Under the guidance of the President of the Sri Lanka Army Seva Vanitha Unit, Mrs Janaki Liyanage, the Chairperson, SLACAL-SVB Mrs Shanthi Abeysekera organized the event with the support of other Seva Vanitha members, SLACAL Officers and Other Ranks took place on 23 January 2023 at Sri Lanka Army Engineers Auditorium - Panagoda. Goats distribution has done for 17 families of Other Ranks in SLACAL and Civil families, who are in economic hardship in the county.
The President - Army Seva Vanitha Unit, Mrs. Janaki Liyanage, graced the occasion as the chief guest. The commencement of the programme marked by lighting of traditional oil lamp by the President - Army Seva Vanitha Unit, Mrs. Janaki Liyanage, The President - SLACAL Seva Vanitha Branch - Mrs. Shanthi Abeysekera , all other Regiment SVB President's who were donated for this project and the Centre Commandant of SLACAL -Brigadier Bandula Bandara RSP.
At the outset of the welcoming ceremony, a two-minute silence was observed paying respect to the fallen heroes of the nation. Thereafter Mrs. Shanthi Abeysekera delivered the welcome speech.With that Seva Vanitha Branch presents a series of video with project and welfare programmes updates to the audience reminiscent of the steps taken by the Seva Vanitha Branch SLACAL over a period of last year.
Mrs. Janaki Liyanage President - Army Seva Vanitha Unit distributed the contract papers to the beneficiaries under the project of distribution of Goats and as an honour of participating the event, a memento was presented to the chief guest by Mrs. Shanthi Abeysekera and vice president of SVB SLACAL Mrs. Lakmali Darmawansha delivered vote of thanks by giving special thanks to the President of Army Seva Vanitha Branch for giving this opportunity to carry out this project and representing all beneficiaries and thanked to all donors perticularly the other SVB of Army whom contributed to this project.
