The Fifth Regimental Council Meeting of Sri Lanka Army Corps of Agriculture & Livestock was held on 18 September 2023 at the DGFM Conference hall, Army Headquarters-Baththaramulla.The Director General Financial Management & Colonel Commandant of Sri Lanka Army Corps of Agriculture and Livestock Major General WBSM Abeysekera RSP VSV USP was presided the Council Meeting.
Major General PPA Perera Hdmc psc,Brigadier AMKGPSK Abeysinghe, Director Agriculture & Livestock-Brigadier BN Madanayake RWP RSP,Brigadier EMGA Ambanpola,Centre Commandant of SLACAL - Brigadier KASK Siriwardana RWP RSP USP,Colonel MAS Weligama,Colonel K Weerasinghe USP and Lieutenant Colonel KS Thalagala USP were joined with the Council Meeting as Council members.During this meeting they discussed about the Officers related matters,General matters,Admin matters, Log matters and concluded with important decisions relevant to the SLACAL Regiment.

Brigadier KASK Siriwardhena RWP RSP USP assumed duties as the 4th Centre Commandant of Sri Lanka Army Corps of Agriculture & Livestock on 12 July 2023 at Regimental Headquaters - Karandeniya.He is a Senior Infantry Officer who had commanded 1 & 6 SLSR battalions and 523 Brigade prior to taken over this appointment.All officers of Sri Lanka Army Corps of Agriculture & Livestock wish Good Luck to his new appointment.

With the concept of the Director General Financial Management & Colonel Commandant of Sri Lanka Army Corps of Agriculture & Livestock Major General WBSM Abeysekera RSP VSV USP and the support of Seva Vanitha Branch and 4(V) Sri Lanka Army Corps of Agriculture & Livestock started Mango-Chutney Production in 19 of June 2023 as the first stage .Mango harvest of army farm Manikfarm was used to making this praductions . Mango-chutney was produced in 4(V) SLACAL & they will decide to expand this to Sauce and jam production as soon as possible.

The new year festival of corps of Agriculture & Livestock was held on 29 April 2023 organized by 6 battalion of corps of Agriculture & Livestock(Kilinochchi).The Director General Financial Management & Colonel Commandant of Sri Lanka Army Corps of Agriculture & Livestock Major General WBSM Abeysekera RSP VSV USP was graced the occasion as chief Guest.
The President of Seva Vanitha Branch(SLACAL),Director of Agriculture & Livestock,The Centre Commandant of the SLACAL,The Commandant School of Agriculture & Livestock,Commanding Officers of 4(V),5(V) SLACAL,their spouses,children,NCO's and their familiars,Militarized Civilians from Jaffna & Kilinochchi also participated with this occasion.Number of traditional sinhala & tamil avrudu events were conducted in line with this event.The new year festival was terminated with the prize distribution ceremony. This has been organized to uplift inter-relationships and coexistence among all units officers,ORs and their families.

Director General Financial Management & Colonel Commandant of Sri Lanka Army Corps of Agriculture & Livestock Major General WBSM Abeysekera RSP VSV USP made a formal visit to the Regimental Headquaters(Karandeniya) on 8 April 2023.Prior to the new year season the Colonel Commandant was given away the dry rations and gifts to the Civil staff of RHQ-SLACAL.During the troops address He adviced the audience on the effects of absenteeism and the ways and means of facing contemporary challenges and wish All Agrarians Happy and Prosperous Sinhala & Tamil New year.

The Commander of Sri Lanka Army Lieutenant General HLVM Liyanage RWP RSP ndu has visited Army Farm Kandakdu & Galkanda on 31 March 2023 in order to uplift and elevate the Agricultural sector in Sri Lanka with Sri Lanka Army Corps of Agriculture and Livestock.
During the visit Commander of the Army inspected Layer farm Galkanda, MRE factory, Milk Project and Other farming area.He also addressed officers and troops and expressed his gratitude to all Agrarians for their exceptional service rendered by SLACAL to uplift nation economy.
Thus the Prize Awarding Ceremony of the Farm Competition was held at 3(V) SLACAL.The Commander of the Sri Lanka Army was graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.The Colonel Commandant of the SLACAL was warmly welcomed the chief guest to the prize awarding ceremony.The Senior Officers of SLACAL, Commanding Officers representing all battalions and NCO’s of SLACAL were participated for the ceremony. The results of the Farm Competition 2023 as follows.
1st Place - Army farm Adiyapuliyankulam
2nd Place - Menikfarm
3rd Place - Army farm Galkanda
Best emerging Farm - Army farm Kandakadu
Best Farm OC- Capt WAVP Wijalath

Sri Lanka Army Corps of Agriculture & Livestock,the youngest Regiment of the Sri lanka Army assist to the Sri Lanka's economy in order to supplement and promote the island's food security programme by cultivating many crops across the counrty and to Empower, the Farming.The island wide Army farms which are belongs to Sri Lanka Army Corps of Agriculture and Livestock are currently engaged in collecting the Maha Season paddy harvest and seasonal crops.
