Brigadier BPGK Balasooriya RSP psc the Brigadier General Staff and Colonel SDNC De Silva the Brigadier Admin & Quartering accompanied the Commander during the visit.

Major General Lanka Amarapala RWP RSP ndc psc assumed duties as the 17th Commander of the Security Forces (West) on 23 August 2024. The newly appointed Commander Security Forces (West) was awarded with a Guard Turnout and a Guard of Honour by the troops of the Sri Lanka Engineers Regiment soon after his arrival at the premises, in accordance with military traditions.

Major General S W M Fernando WWV RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc, Commander Security Forces (West), undertook a significant field visit to 57 Infantry Division—Pangolla on 13 August 2024 and Brigadier General Staff and Brigadier Admin and Quartering accompanied the Commander during the visit. According to the instructions of Army Headquarters, the division was placed under command to Security Forces (West) on 12 August 2024. The importance of this visit cannot be overstated, as it signifies the beginning of a new chapter for the division.

Major General S W M Fernando WWV RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc, the Commander Security Forces (West), officially visited 143 Infantry Brigade on 24 July 2024. Subsequently, the visiting Commander was honoured with a drive pass at the Brigade Headquarters in Puttlam. The Commander 143 Infantry Brigade Brigadier K A D T P Wimalasena RWP RSP warmly welcomed the Commander Security Forces (West) and senior officers. Thereby, comprehensive briefings on roles and tasks and the present situation of the respective AOR were added to the day's program. Meanwhile, the Commander Security Forces (West) planted saplings in the camp premises to mark his visit.

As instructed by the Directorate of Training and under the guidance of the Commander Security Forces Headquarters (West), lecture was conducted on 23 July 2024 at Sri Lanka Army General Service Corps Lecture Hall to address various crimes and indiscipline among Army personnel. The Commander Security Forces Headquarters (West), Major General S W M Fernando WWV RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc, addressed the audience beginning of the program highlighting the importance of military soldiers' disciplines and conduct. Further, he highlighted the role and responsibility of Commanding Officers, essential appointments in the battalions, routine functions, and discipline of army personnel. Deputy Commander Security Forces Headquarters (West) Major General Y A B M Yahampath RWP RSP ndu psc, Brigadier General Staff, Brigadier B P G K Balasooriya RSP psc, and Brigadier Admin and Quatering Colonel S D N C de Silva, along with other senior officers, participated for this event. The Commanding Officer 1 Sri Lanka Corps of Military Police, Major V N M Jayasekara USP Lsc led the session. The lecture covered topics such as Organized Crime, Financial Fraud, Drug Use, Drug Trafficking, Child Abuse, Child Rape, and Online Gambling. There were 80 Senior Officers, including Commanding Officers from all affiliated and under command battalions, participated for this program.
