  • ARMY TROOPS BUILDS SIRASA NIWASA NEW HOUSE FOR A NEEDY FAMILY IN KEGALLE

    Troops of 8 Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment (8 SLSR) of the 611 Infantry Brigade in the 61 Infantry Division under the Security Forces (West) constructed a new house for a low income family having a disabled child in Arandara, Kegalle in collaboration with the MTV/MBC, ‘Sirasa’ Media network through its ‘Sirasa Niwasa’ project on the directions given by General Shavendra Silva, Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army after the project sponsors sought the Army assistance in this regard.

  • A BLOOD DONATION DRIVE FOR ACUTE SHORTAGE OF BLOOD AMID PANDEMIC

    As a request made by the National Thalassemia Organization– Katunayaka , Security Force (West) launched a Blood Donation Campaign, as per the directions promulgated by the Head, National Operation Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO), Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army General Shavendra Silva, with the close supervision of Major General D G S Senarathyapa RWP RSP ndu, Commander Security Forces (West) to aid the accute shortage of blood at Ragama Blood Bank, during the current COVID -19 pandemic situation.

    As per the directions promulgated by the Head, National Operation Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO), Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army General Shavendra Silva, with the close supervision of Major General D G S Senarathyapa RWP RSP ndu, Commander Security Force (West) establish the new ICC at Elpitiya.

  • SF (WEST) ROPED INTO VACCINATION CONTINUEING A MASS PROGRAMME FOR DAYS

    Strengthening the government’s effort in combating the COVID-19 pandemic, Army’s Response had become the biggest ever homeland military operation in this crucial juncture, on the directions of General Shavendra Silva, Head, National Operation Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO), Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army, with the close supervision of Major General D G S Senarathyapa RWP RSP ndu, Commander Security Forces (West), a mass vaccination programme with two vaccines including both 1st and 2nd doses of the AstraZeneca (Covishield) and the Sinopharm is being successfully conducted at the Panagoda Bodhi Rajaramaya (Army Temple) from 1st August 2021 onwards.
