Security Forces (West) AOR spreads over 04 administrative provinces (-), (WESTERN, NORTH WESTERN, SABARAGAMUWA AND SOUTHERN PROVINCES LESS HAMBANTOTA DISTRICT) which includes 09 x Districts (COLOMBO, GAMPAHA, KURUNEGALA, PUTTALAM, KALUTARA, GALLE, MATARA, RATNAPURA, KEGALLE) covered with a total land area of 19,475 sq kms which comes to 29.73 percent of land area of the Island. The stretch of a costal belt 471.09 kms, starting from MODARAGAMMARU to KUDAWELLA BEACH.
SFHQ (West) AOR has been divided in to 02 x Divisions (14 Inf Division, 61 Inf Division) along with the administrative zoon. 14 Inf Div consist with 04 x Inf Bdes which are 143 Inf Bde at North Western province comprise with 2 Bns, 141,142 and 144 Inf Bdes at Western province comprise with 9 Bns, 61 Inf Div consisit with 03 x Inf Bdes which are 611 Inf Bde at Sabaragamuwa province comprise with 2 Bns, 612 Inf Bde at Western province comprise with 2 Bns , 613 Inf Bde at Southern province comprise with 2 Bns . Furthermore, 16 Bns which include to both divs and 07 x Bns directly under comd to this HQ. Total no of strength is 286 x 6094.
