THE COMMANDER SECURITY FORCES (WEST), MAJOR GENERAL LANKA AMARAPALA RWP RSP ndc psc, VISITED 573 INFANTRY BRIGADE

Major General Lanka Amarapala RWP RSP ndc psc, the Commander Security Forces (West), made his maiden visit to the 573 Infantry Brigade and its under command battalions on Saturday (14th).

In line with the itinerary, the Commander Security Forces (West) commenced his visit arriving at 20th Battalion Sri Lanka Light Infantry where he was honoured with a drive past. On the arrival at the Battalion headquarters, Major General Lanka Amarapala was warmly welcomed by Major General W K H M S Wikramaratne RSP, the GOC 61 Infantry Division, together with Colonel D D G A Jayawardhana USP psc, the Commander 573 Infantry Brigade and Major P C D Gamage SLLI, the Commanding Officer of 20th Battalion Sri Lanka Light Infantry. Following the initial military formalities, the Commander Security Forces (West) addressed the troops and he emphasized importance of maintain military discipline and code of honour. Subsequent to the troops address, the Commander Security Forces (West) had an interaction with the Officers and Other Ranks at the traditional All Ranks Tea. Prior to the departure, he inscribed an impressive note in the Visitors’ Book to remember his official visit.

Afterwards, Major General Lanka Amarapala visited the 573 Infantry Brigade. In honour of his visit to the Brigade, he was accorded with a guard turnout at the camp entrance. A comprehensive briefing on the progress of the constructions was later conducted by the Commander, 573 Infantry Brigade.

Thereafter, the Commander Security Forces (West) conducted a visit to 2nd (V) Battalion Gemunu Watch and he was honoured with a guard turnout. Having posed for the Officers’ group photograph, Major General Lanka Amarapala addressed the troops. Later, the Commander Security Forces (West) made a special remark in the Visitors’ Book of the battalion. Afterwards, Major General Lanka Amarapala visited the 3rd (V) Battalion Gemunu Watch and he remembered to place an admiring note in the Visitors’ Book the said battalion as well.

Major General K H M S Wikramaratne RSP, the General Officer Commanding 61 Infantry Division, Brigadier BPGK Balasooriya RSP psc, Brigadier General Staff Security Forces Headquarters (West), Colonel D D G A Jayawardhana USP psc, the Commander 573 Infantry Brigade participated in these visits.
