The Commander Security Forces (West), Major General Lanka Amarapala RWP RSP ndc psc, made his maiden visit to the 57 Infantry Division and 571 Infantry Brigade on Monday (16th).
The Commander Security Forces (West) commenced his official visit arriving at the 57 Infantry Division Headquarters in Pangolla, Kurunegala. Upon arrival, he was extended a warm welcome by Major General W M P M Wijesooriya RWP RSP ndu, the General Officer Commanding 57 Infantry Division, together with Brigadier A M A Abeyawardana WWV RWP RSP ndc, the Deputy General Officer Commanding 57 Infantry Division. Following the welcome, a comprehensive briefing on the role, tasks, current situation of the Area of Responsibility and the progress of the constructions, was conducted by the General Officer Commanding 57 Infantry Division. Thereafter, Major General Lanka Amarapala posed for a group photograph, planted a sapling at the camp premises and signed the visitors’ book to mark his visit.
Afterwards, the Commander Security Forces (West) visited the 571 Infantry Brigade. The Commander 571 Infantry Brigade, Colonel I G J P Thilakarathne USP, briefed on the role, tasks and the present situation of the Brigade and Major General Lanka Amarapala signed the visitors’ book.
Afterwards, Major General Lanka Amarapala visited the 9th Battalion Sri Lanka National Guard where he was honoured with a drive past. Major T S P Kumara RSP, the Commanding Officer 9th Battalion Sri Lanka National Guard briefed on the battalion’s role and tasks. The Commander Security (West) addressed the troops emphasizing the significance of maintaining the discipline, avoidance of illegal activities, its integral role in achieving the success and appreciated their most noble employment. Following the troops address, Major General Lanka Amarapala posed for a group photograph.
Finally, the Commander Security Forces (West) visited the 1st Battalion Sri Lanka National Guard where he was honoured with a drive past. Major ATR Abeynandana, the Commanding Officer 1st Battalion Sri Lanka National Guard conducted a briefing regarding the role, tasks and the present commitment of the battalion. Later, Major General Lanka Amarapala addressed the troops and signed the visitors’ book.
